I went in ready to be judgy but it was overall a great experience. I've been to another rotary sushi in Chicago and this location was as good if not better than that one. The plates are all the same price ($3.50) and the portion is appropriate. I am a vegetarian and was very pleased with my choices which is unusual for sushi places in general let alone ones like this. I liked everything I tried including the taro boba (though I would have liked more boba in it esp for the price). I was a big fan of the egg tart and of inari pocket with seaweed salad was one of the best things I've ever eaten. It was pricey but I ate a lot since it was my first time and I was trying everything. I would come back for sure and this will be a real crowd pleaser for my out of town guests! Since my initial 5-star review I have returned to this location twice. Both times left something to be desired in their own ways. On the second occasion, we called ahead because we expected them to be busy and while we were seated shortly after arrival we were put at the end of the line which meant that we got slim pickings sometimes. Ultimately this wasn't a problem because we're vegetarian and they had a lot of options that worked out for us but it could be annoying to someone who wanted things that were consistently not available. The trolly also took a long time due to business so it was sort of a double bind there.
I returned again today (Wednesday) at 4:30 pm and unfortunately the food was not of fantastic quality this time. Some items had clearly been left on the belt for a while. I was particularly annoyed because they posted on their Facebook hours before I went about have veggie bao only for it to not be available. They shouldn't post saying they have a new item until it is actually available or they should be clearer about their...
Read moreThis conveyor belt sushi restaurant is a refreshing addition to central Illinois, and an experience worth checking out!
From the moment we walked in, we were greeted promptly, and the host was friendly and helpful, walking us through how everything works.
Plates of sushi, sashimi, appetizers, and desserts rotate around the restaurant, and you simply grab what you want off the conveyor belt. Plates are disposed of right at your table, and the system tracks your total based on the number of plates. There’s also a tablet at each table where you can order drinks (Pepsi products, fruit drinks, and milk teas) or request items not on the conveyor. Your special orders are delivered directly to your table by an electronic car, which is a cool touch.
Every plate you take earns you points, and for every 10 plates, you get a shot at winning a prize from a game above your table. It’s a fun way to add a little extra excitement to the meal.
The food was fresh, flavorful, and well-prepared, and the service stood out as efficient and friendly. While the conveyor belt concept is unique, the experience goes beyond that. It’s clear the staff puts a lot of care into both the food and the overall atmosphere.
This is a place I’ll be coming back to often. Great service, excellent food, and an experience that’s both fun and satisfying. Highly...
Read moreIt isn't common to have revolving sushi outside of larger cities/suburbs which makes the dining experience enjoyable.
The ambiance is nice and the booths are comfortable, although there was a pillar going through the edge of the left side of the booth we were sat in.
The sushi is comparable in taste to what you can find in other restaurants and grocery stores in the area. It is more expensive at $3.50 a plate (two to four pieces).
The tablet used to order food to the table and see your plate count/total could be a little more intuitive. Some of the formatting of the words is strange, although not detrimentally so.
Water can be ordered (for free) to the table. Other non-complementary drinks (tea, beer, soda, etc...) are also available. It would be nice if hot water was an option. If it is, I missed it on the menu.
Having a hot water tap and cheap tea available directly at the table would add to the experience (the way many other revolving sushi restaurants provide).
I would recommend checking Kobe out if you haven't been to revolving sushi before. However, mostly due to the price, I am not sure it is worth a...
