Edit: I have edited to three stars versus one. The shop owner did call me and explain the issues they ran into with the dress/designer. She was very apologetic and kind and validated our experience. I did mistakenly post the incorrect tip amounts- they were much smaller percentages than I originally mentioned- 1%, 3%, and 5%. The experience is what it was but I appreciated her call and explanation. The dress was perfect and looked to be made for my daughter. It was beautiful on her and I’m glad everything worked out in the end.
I would give zero stars if I could. Happy to share in detail our experience.
This was the first (and only) bridal shop we went to in Nov 2023. The consultant was very kind and accommodating and trying on dresses was great. My daughter found her dream dress that night so we decided to buy it and canceled our appts at other shops.
That’s where the good ends. We had to put half down on the dress (almost $1000) and they told us it would take til end of January 2024 to get it in. We were offered the option of paying a rush fee to get it end of Dec 2023, but opted not since bridals would be mid/end of February and they assured us it would arrive end-of-January. When I paid, there was a request for a tip. A suggested tip of 15%, 20%, or 25% on a nearly TWO-THOUSAND-DOLLAR-DRESS. Yes, our consultant was good, but SERIOUSLY?! Left such a bad taste in my mouth. Is the commission not enough? If not, pay your consultants more.
Months go by. End of January comes and not a peep from the shop. My daughter finally calls and the person who answers has no idea what is going on or when the dress will arrive. She says they will call us back. Nothing. She calls back two days later. They still have no info. They say someone will call us back. I finally call and demand a date when the dress will arrive as we need alterations and bridal photos will be happening in a couple weeks.
They finally call back and tell us the designer is having issues getting the dress through customs and try to play it off as no big deal, and reassure me that IT WILL BE HERE and not to worry. Two days later it is the last day of January and I call to tell them we need a firm date when it will arrive so we can tell the seamstress who is altering the dress. They tell me it isn’t going to make it in time and try to play it off that it’s out of their control and therefor not really their fault. Excuse me?! You sell this dress in your store and chose to work with this designer so it is YOUR FAULT. But they come up with a solution that since my daughter had ordered the same size as the floor sample, she can have that at a discount and they will pay for rush alterations. They tell us they will fix it up, steam it, clean it, and tighten everything since it’s been a floor model for months now. I was NOT happy but my daughter loved the dress so we agreed (no idea what they would have done if the floor model didn’t fit). We go pick it up and even though they claimed to have cleaned it and tightened everything, there were loose buttons, threads hanging off, and the bottom was dirty. Since the bridal photos were in a couple days, I took it, just ready to be done with this miserable, unprofessional, and ridiculous shop.
We had it altered, it fit her perfect and bridals went well. However, on her wedding day, wearing the dress all day, we realized there were some issues. Even though the shop claimed to have “tightened things up” as they put it, the bow that snaps onto the back of the dress with snaps kept coming unsnapped ALL DAY LONG. It was the biggest nuisance and so frustrating. I’m sure it was from however many brides tried it on and snapped and unsnapped those buttons a thousand times.
Overall, HUGELY disappointed in this shop and how everything was handled. Terrible experience overall and I cannot recommend this store to anyone unless you like being stressed out...
Read moreMy first appointment at Moments Made was wonderful but the second appointment was a nightmare. During my first appointment, the staff were helpful and kind. While I was there I was informed that a dress I had tried on could be altered directly from the designer to make a custom dress. I had some reservations about the dress and was excited to customize the dress to make it my own. Ultimately, I chose this particular dress because of the customization option. I had to pay extra for the customizations but I was happy to pay extra to get the dream dress I wanted!
Measurements were taken at the end of my appointment with Moment Made and a list of everything I wanted changed on the dress was written down and recorded to be sent to the designer.
I ordered my dress in November and the dress was expected to come in early March.
To my surprise my dress came in February and I was able to pick it up early. However, when I picked up the dress during my second, pick-up appointment, 2 out of the 3 customizations I paid extra for were severely wrong. When concerns about the dress were brought up to the staff my mom, who was with me at the time, and I were met with very rushed answers. I was told very firmly that I was given what I ordered. My mom and I were then rushed to the side to accommodate the next bridal appointment. My mom, who was trying to help, and I were ignored and we were forced to wait for help.
Eventually a manager came over to help. We were told we were given what I had ordered. However, we knew this wasn't the case. After my mom requested multiple times to bring a measuring tape out the store agreed and brought out a measuring tape. It was then determined and confirmed by the manager that the measurements were indeed severely wrong. The manager told my mom and I that we would have to take the dress to a seamstress and pay for the alterations and that the store would not be fixing the dress.
This was unacceptable.
I already paid for the customizations. The receipt that I was given had all of the customizations written on it and the dress was given to me wrong.
After further discussion, Moments Made agreed to pay for the alterations and the shipment of additional buttons needed for the dress to make it the way I originally ordered it however I was responsible for finding a seamstress who could fix it in time and cover my own travel expenses to and from the alteration appointments.
For reference, I custom ordered the sleeves to be a 9 1/2 inch circumference and it arrived with a 15 inch circumference and i ordered extra buttons to be placed 1/2 inches apart and it arrived with less buttons that were spaced over an inch apart. In fact, the dress I custom ordered to arrive with extra buttons arrived with less buttons than the original dress. (The manager brought out the original dress and we counted the buttons on both dresses.)
Moments Made gave me a list of seamstresses I could visit that had experience with bridal alterations however it was difficult because so many seamstresses were booked out until June and I needed my dress in a couple of weeks! I found one seamstress that lived over an hour away from my house that could fit me in for a rush appointment and she was wonderful! I do wish Moments Made gave me a travel stipend because it was a long drive and because of the rushed nature I needed to take work off to make this work. But, Moments Made did pay for the alterations because the dress I got wasn't the dress I ordered.
I wish Moments Made took more time with me during my second appointment after concern was raised that the dress was wrong instead of pushing me to the side to get the next bridal appointment started. I still can't believe they wanted me to pay for the alterations when I had paid for the alterations in the first place and it was done incorrectly. Moments Made was very unprofessional during my second...
Read moreI live in Scottsdale, Arizona and my church is Catholic ---more traditional Catholic, so many of us women wear dresses and veils to Mass. I am 36 years old and knew I wanted a modest dress. When I met with the planners at the church, they shared with me the Wedding Policy which included some tips for brides on modesty. In it, there were three websites for examples of modest wedding gowns, which I found very helpful. One of the websites was for Moments Made. I was surprised to see how many of the dresses I loved on their website! However, I was bummed to see they were not local to Arizona. But fortunately for me, I travel to Salt Lake City often for work and already had a trip planned there. I was SO excited to book an evening appointment at Moments Made while I was there for work.
I went in on a Tuesday evening and pretty much had the entire place to myself. My consultant, Amber, was SO helpful. She made me feel like a princess, ensured she had a grasp of what I was looking for. And luckily, I had already obsessed over the website enough where I had about 8 dresses picked out. We tried on many of them and (as I'm sure happens with most brides), the one I thought would be the top contender wasn't really jiving with me. Towards the end of my appt, I was torn between two dresses. Amber was patient with me and allowed me to try both on again and spend quite a bit of time in each. She even dressed me up with a veil, had me hold flowers, put on jewelry, etc. It really helped to be able to see the whole look come together.
What I appreciate most is how thoughtful she was in helping me narrow it down. She could tell I was very torn and I didn't have any family or friends present with me to help make the decision. She asked me "What do you NOT like about each dress?" I told her for Dress #1, I didn't like that it was sparkly and it was a bit too heavy. For Dress #2, I told her that I didn't like that it was V-Neck (I wanted sweetheart) and I wanted it to have a tad fuller of a skirt for an A-line dress. Very quickly, she was able to show me that Dress #2 could be altered to make it sweetheart and also add layers underneath to make it a fuller skirt. On the contrary, it would be pretty impossible to remove the sparkles off of Dress #1. And just like that, I had my answer and was able to to say "yes" to the dress!
Amber also helped me to try to find a local seamstress in Arizona (I ended up going with someone else, but still appreciated her going out of her way). She also picked out a veil and earrings for me that looked really nice. I figured "Oh well I'll buy them and probably end up getting something else later on." But sure enough, those were the earrings I ended up wearing on my wedding day! I also got a store credit for buying the dress and was able to buy some nice sweaters while I was in store as well.
Surprisingly, as someone who is very fickle (especially with fashion), I am shocked to say that I purchased my dress in October, got married in June and NEVER once did I waver on purchasing this dress. It was so perfect for me and I got so many compliments on it. I look back at the pictures now and feel like it is a timeless, classic dress. I felt so beautiful in it and am very grateful to Amber for helping me narrow down the perfect dress...
