My experience with Everglades is mixed at best, with it heavily weighed towards the difficulties I experienced. Before saying anything else, I do want to point out that every interaction I had with the instructors was great. The instructors themselves are great people, and they are truly committed to helping you. If I could have these instructors with a different institution, I would be absolutely content. The instructors themselves heavily contributed to the positives of this university. Now for the not so great parts:
The financial aid department is a hot mess. Every person will tell you something entirely different, with most of the information being inaccurate even after verifying it multiple times. When you try and address any of these concerns, all anyone will do is talk in circles while giving you more incorrect information. For the price you pay for the turtion, you should be able to have upfront, current, and accurate detailed financial information. From January of 2017 to October of 2017, I have yet to receive consistently correct information about my financial account.
The core classes were enjoyable, however, they are not particularly challenging. Most students would be able to complete the same courses online for far less money at a local community college. The textbooks are also a rip-off, with several of them barely being used. I would not advise that anyone has the school order the textbooks for them. In several cases it would have been significantly cheaper to order/rent a textbook and to purchase a code of the online lab separately.
While I did not take the major courses for the Alternative Medicine track, I did receive the textbooks for several of them. There are better programs with better peer-reviewed, science/researched based textbooks that provide a much more clinical and whole view of alternative medicine. For the price being charged for each course, the materials used for the major courses make this program significantly lesser than it's peers.
I would never recommend this university to anyone. It is overpriced for the quality of the online education. The financial practices are misleading, dishonest, and downright false. The materials used are of lesser quality for the Alternative Medicine program when compared to programs at colleges like the American College of Healthcare Sciences. This degree program also offers fewer qualifications than other programs. Overall it is a...
Read moreIt was a rough start to the beginning. Just re-learning everything all over again. I am only half way into my first semester, but I wouldn't have made it here if it wasn't for Samantha and Mary-Fr. They literally have been my back bone in supporting me through the first few months. I'm not going to lie, it's hard. But if you don't have a challenge then what are you paying for? Samantha has just been there every time i had a question about God knows what. If you decide to enroll into this school, just make sure you have a support person within the school you can always count on. If I didn't have that, my experience would have been a lot different. Mary is the one who gets me right with my library studies and books she can also help with your grammar and research papers. You have a online tutor for that but firing office hours she is there to assist and is great! These are real people who you can call daily to assist you in your studies. Not just an automated course to skate through your degree. The instructors who teach the classes are actual Doctors with physical degrees. That makes me feel better on knowing I am getting taught by an individual of the same background. I am working on my bachelor's of science with a track on alternative medicine. There are some flaws within the school that I could address, for example I don't like blackboard and I wish there was more live in-class sessions. But that is an opinion. Nothing that would rate this school school lower than 5 stars. I have 3 years left so I will report back once my degree is in hand 🎓📜 oh, they also offer a financial scholarship. This is for anyone based on the amount you can pay monthly. That is also a plus! Helps cut back the cost of oir of pocket payments and loans if that is the...
Read moreI am currently a student at Everglades University, pursing a Master's degree, one with a concentration on Alternative Medicine and the other with a concentration on Functional Nutrition. I completed my Bachelor's degree with Everglades University in Alternative Medicine back in October of 2020. My experience with this university has been wonderful! This university is not like any other that I have been to. Everglades really works with the student and the format of classes is unique and perfect for the busy adult. When I was doing my Bachelor's degree, I would take one class per month, and with the Master's it's one class every 8 weeks. Having only one class to focus on is amazing because I never get bored or feel like the semester is dragging causing me to lose motivation. This also allows for my to focus only on one class and not having to distribute my attention between 4 classes, which is especially hard when you are working full-time with a whole life to live and then have school full-time. EU offers classes both online and on campus, depending on which you prefer or works better with your schedule. I did online for my Bachelor's and for my Master's I am doing on campus, which is only a couple hours two days a week. The staff and educators here are amazing. They all know you by name and the dean is very involved with your education, setting up an academic advising appointment at the end of each semester to check on you and help you stay on track with your education and plan ahead for your future. I would highly recommend this school to anyone who wants to take charge of their education and future without getting lost in the sea of people at large universities where you are just a number and get lost...
