We used Boston Audio Rentals to deliver and install a Pipe & Drape for our November 2022 wedding. Despite assuring us that they had been to our venue “many times” and would be able to provide the Pipe & Drape, they failed to properly set up the Pipe & Drape as agreed and have since failed to respond to our request to discuss the issues following the wedding (other than one email suggesting that the problems with the setup were somehow our fault). We had a terrible experience with this company and would strongly recommend not using them.
Prior to our wedding we told Boston Audio Rentals that we needed the Pipe & Drape to hide the tables which would be preset prior to our ceremony. We gave them the required setup and a picture from our venue from another wedding with our desired setup months in advance (see attached), and they received a diagram from our venue. Based on this information Boston Audio Rentals told us how many sections of Pipe & Drape we needed.
On the day of the wedding their employee showed up and had no knowledge of the setup we required and had to dig through his emails to find the diagram. Once he set it up, he called the groom (point of contact) and explained that he did not have enough sections to complete the desired setup (that Boston Audio Rentals had agreed to months prior) and that he was too far from their office to obtain more sections. As you can see from the picture attached, the setup does not conceal the back of the room at all and further the sheets were also sheer which both obviously completely undermine the entire point of the Pipe & Drape in concealing the tables.
We expressed our dissatisfaction during the day of the wedding, and only after involving our venue coordinator was she able to reconstruct the sections in such a way that at least the back of the venue was somewhat obstructed, but far from the agreed setup that we had paid $1000 for (plus a premature tip that was given upon the employee’s arrival).
We have since reached out to the company who has been almost entirely unresponsive and now suggests the problems were our fault. This experience was extremely upsetting on our wedding day. We also wanted to note that we had no other complaints about any other vendors from our wedding other than Boston Audio Rentals. I recently hired them for my wedding and ordered cold spark machines and a fog machine. When the quote was finalized John said he would send the paperwork over ASAP but after not receiving them I followed up and he didn't sent them until 3 days later. The engineering team at the hotel had requested the details of the two machines and I asked for them on three separate occasions before the paperwork was signed. The week of my wedding the manager at the hotel called John to confirm the details and after running them by the engineering team regretfully informed me that we wouldn't be able to use them during our reception. I told John the hotel didn't approve them so there was no need to send the technician, machine and materials and to please remove them from the order in which he replied that he would. After the wedding I asked when I could expect a refund and he had the audacity to tell me I should have followed up again and he had other models of fog machines he could have used. Read moreAlthough the reason we needed A/V equipment from Boston Audio Rental was not a pleasant reason (i.e., we suffered a loss in our family) -- during these times of the Coronavirus we needed to create an environment outside, under a tent in which a limited number of people could visit us in person while maintaining social distance), while also allowing others who could not attend in person (for a variety of reasons) to share their condolences via zoom. Given that time was short between our loss and the time in which we needed the equipment, I called numerous A/V rental companies on Sunday, July 5th (a Sunday, the day after the July 4th holiday, but only Boston Audio Rentals answered the phone. From the first contact through the last, the company representatives were very kind, helpful, knowledgeable, flexible and forthright. After consulting with Sunny about what I needed, he gave me a price immediately, and was able to schedule the delivery and setup of the equipment the next day. I can't thank them enough for helping to take a weight off our shoulders, and allow others from far and wide to participate in and comfort us during the period of our immediate grief.
