Friendly, casual family-style restaurant. Wife enjoyed the baked stuffed haddock which was pipping hot and flaky, but her mashed potatoes were dry/crusty and butternut squash were not great. I had steak tips, fries and asparagus. The fries were bland shoe string fries and the asparagus did not look appetizing at all and I did not touch. The steak tips were fine I got med/rare and were cooked correctly but for $25 I got like 3oz of steak (6 chunks). The party next to us got onion rings and some loaded tater tots appetizer which both looked better (I would opt for onion rings instead of fries). There is parking in the back lot in the back (use google maps satellite view to see it you cannot see it from street view). Our waitress was friendly. Root beer is from a glass bottle and was not mentioned when ordering. I wish staff would mention this when ordering I usually ask but forgot this time. We arrived at peak time place was busy but no wait and the service was pretty slow. Prices are a bit higher than I expected and what is online. Cost was $60 2 dinners with soft drinks and no appetizers/desert. Place was extremely warm (borderline uncomfortable) and cozy old pub atmosphere. Nothing fancy but it wasn't...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreColonial House Restaurant in Norwood is literally just that; a colonial house restaurant in a Norwood neighborhood surrounded by homes. There is plenty of parking behind the āhouseā from the street. Once inside you will find it quite charming, with throw back Americana decor that lends to an equally charming atmosphere. Service is very friendly, helpful, and prompt. With a limited menu, we found the food to be somewhat of a hit and miss. For me, the French Dip au jus was perhaps the best Iāve ever tasted. No two or three layers of meat here. It was an ample portion, appropriately plump, cooked to rare perfection, and comes with plenty of ājusā too; no jamming the sandwich into the bowl to get that last drop. The Fries were just okay; not much flavor and very little salt. The Margaritas are most excellent, tasty, and effective. For her, the Sausage Pizza was meh; a little too cheesy, the sausage lacking flavor, and a pretty much non-existent crust. Overall, it was well worth a visit. If youāre headed to a show at Fallout Shelter, itās only a six-minute drive from the āhouseā....
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThis is such a cozy little hole in the wall! We chose this because it looks like a welcoming home. The interior is so inviting and the wait staff are too polite for words! āŗ our server asked if I enjoyed the lobster bisque and I said, oh it was okay... and she gave me the MOM look and asked again and I said no, I'm sorry, I didn't like it. She said no problem, I'll remove it from your bill. I ordered the prime rib au jus and my son ordered chicken wings and fries. Husband ordered fried seafood platter. We loved it all and were very pleased. The icing on the cake was when we were done and the waitress asked if we'd like a 'Hoodsie'. We had no idea what that is. She said I'll bring it. Someone will eat it. What a pleasant surprise! It was individual ice cream cup with a wooden spoon. Spencer (my son) was so happy with it. It was chocolate and vanilla. 10/10 come here, you won't be disappointed! Thank you, Colonial House. You are our...
