Mostly tree-covered hike up the mountain to almost the peak. This is about a 3-mile hike, which has good pacing. The hike up the treeline is steep, but if you can make it past the sun and the grade, you will survive to the summit. This trail can get pretty busy; we went at 9:30 AM and finished at 12:15 PM. As you get up, the trail is pretty rocky, so wear some trail shoes or boots. People started when we came down, so you could hike all day. Paid Parking is available, but there is a shuttle you can take as well. We did this hike to acclimate to the area before doing a 14k, but it would be a nice hike on a summer or fall day.
