Okay, east coaster perspective here. Most of us weren't in top shape to begin with. We went to royal arch looking for a quick hike to a nice view before going out to get some rocky mountain water brewed beers. That didnt happen. Being up there talking to other hikers I got the impression it is a starter hike compared to some of the hikes/bouldering/rock climbing. There are multiple views, cool rock formations, water comes right out of the mountain even up at the top. Cool dogs, kids having fun and the local wildlife is so chill. This place was pretty special. It was a good feeling to finally reach the overlook. There were chipmunks and birds hanging out on the trail with us. They were used to close human interaction so you know the people respect the nature here. We saw someone summit the very top of the mountain at the same time standing up like that inspirational poster. I didn't get that beer right away. Definitely showered after. TLDR: This is a 1300 ft climb. You will use your hands to climb some. It will kick your muscles and takes longer than you'd expect with the difference in elevation one might not be adapted to. It is worth it.

Absolutely wonderful property! We organized our class reunion here at Colorado Chautauqua and it was such a memorable experience. We had a group of 19 coming for 3 nights and 4 days and the planning process began months before we arrived — Shayna took care of our needs every step of the way. She was prompt, responsive and very helpful when it came to answering all of my questions so that by the time us and all of our guests arrived, we knew what to expect and everything fell into place. This was the perfect retreat for a reunion — it was close to Downtown, Boulder and Pearl Street for food/drinks, just steps away from amazing trails (we did the Bluebell & Baird hike), and the cottages themselves were well-maintained and exactly what we were looking for — private space for our guests to retreat to, but also had a nice indoor and outdoor space to gather at the 3-bed cottage. I also used their 24-hour self-operated laundry room which was a nice amenity. All in all, we are extremely satisfied with our stay and would definitely come back again. Thank you, Shayna and the rest of the Colorado Chautauqua staff for a wonderful stay!

I, along with roughly 60 of my wedding guests, recently stayed at Chautauqua, and held our rehearsal dinner at the Community House. I HIGHLY recommend you do not stay here or hold events here. It was a disaster for well over a year. Colorado Chautauqua is greedy, disorganized, and will go back on their word MULTIPLE times.||You will have SO MANY different main points of contact because no one stays working here for a long time. With every new point of contact you get, you will be told something completely different.||To start off, we signed a contract and paid our first deposit in October of 2023. Then, 7 months later, we have a new point of contact who told us "prices have increased and there is nothing we can do about it."||Next, we were told a 40 person rehearsal dinner could be held in the Rocky Mountain Climbers Club. Again, we sign a contract and put a deposit down. Then, we get a new point of contact who tells us we can't fit 40 people in that room and we now need to pay for a much more expensive room, despite already singing the contract and paying our deposit.||We had a time frame for our wedding guests to reserve their cottages. We were told that Colorado Chautauqua would inform us when availability started to get low during that specified time frame. That was a complete lie. They booked out every single cottage to other parties without even telling us or giving us the chance to reserve more ourselves.||No one answers emails. No one will call you back. You have to follow up MULTIPLE TIMES and be ready to call every single day to get any kind of information. Even when you do get a hold of someone, they will all tell you conflicting information. For example, I was told by one person that candles to put on tables are free. I was told by the next person that candles are $150. This is just one example, but I have dozens.||I personally stayed in the Mission House with my bridesmaids. The floor was so dirty it stained all of our socks black. The air conditioning barely worked upstairs. It was WAY too hot to sleep in any of the rooms up there. Our refrigerator didn't keep anything cold and we had to have maintenance come.||The only redeeming quality about my entire experience was working with Rosy Rojas. She is the only person we ever interacted with who actually seemed to want to help us and not just charge us more money. Outside of her, I would not recommend ever staying or holding an event at...

The context:||My fiance' and I brought $27,000 of business to Colorado Chautauqua on Labor Day weekend 2024.|||The good:||Colorado Chautauqua is a beautiful property that is close to the mountains. The close proximity of the dining hall, general store, and flat iron mountain range makes this a great place to host a large group.||The bad:||The communication from their planning team is awful. We had 3 different points of contact over a 1 year period, leading to not only inconsistent communication, but a lack of response to emails and the repeated phone calls and voicemails that we left. We had to repeatedly follow up to ensure the simplest task was being completed.||They attempted to change the price the we agreed to on our original contract. After signing an agreement in October of 2023, we were told in May of 2024 that the pricing for the food and kitchen crew had increased, despite us having signed an agreement.||We paid extra for the audio and visual package for our rehearsal dinner. It took 40 minutes for myself and the A/V gentlemen to figure out how to play a slide show during our rehearsal dinner. This is the same rehearsal dinner that the folks at Colorado Chautauqua kept thinking was a wedding, and we had to repeatedly explain that it wasn't a wedding.||One of our guests found hair in the sheets of their bed the first night. We didn't say anything to the Colorado Chautauqua team, however, the morning after we left the property, we were charged a $75 cleaning fee for leaving dishes in the sink and having a mess on the stove. Please be forewarned that although there are kitchens in the unit, the expectation is for you to hand wash all of your dishes before you leave the property.||The air conditioning on the property does not adequately keep the rooms cool.||There was a lack of clarity on invoicing, what amounts had been paid, and what amounts were due. We repeatedly had to ask whether previous payments we had made were applied to the new invoices. This is most likely due to the communication issues and 3 different points of contact that I outlined at the start of this review.||In summary:||We were disappointed with the service we received from the team at Colorado Chautauqua throughout the process and hope that this review can help you make a more educated decision on where to...

We arrived at our cabin (#26) after a long days drive only to be struck in the face with a very distinct natural gas odor that overwhelmed us. We were immediately concerned of the dangers of this. We called the staff and they sent a maintenance man right over. We had opened the windows all throughout the cabin to air it out. Of course the maintenance man said he didn’t smell anything and looked at us like we were smelling things. Next we call the front desk only to find out this has been an on going issue and that they are fully aware that there is a gas leak somewhere in the cabin but they can’t pinpoint where and that this is a normal thing for cabins this old. Are you crazy? Intentionally renting out high priced cabins with a gas leak. I guess they will continue to do this until an unsuspecting family gets really sick or worse. The maintenance man continued to try to tell us it is safe to stay there and that this happens all the time in the cabins next to the trail. I’ve never seen such disregard for people’s safety in my life. I’m going to contact the better business bureau in hopes they get this fixed and that no other family has to be disappointed after a long days drive with nowhere to stay at 9pm on a...
