Ed Smith Upholstery — Attraction in Brick Township

My expectations were exceeded by Mr. Franka! My dad always loved to go to the local "garage sales", before he became ill. On one trip he found a rickety arm chair that he reupholstered by himself with faux leather(?) ... not well, but he was happy with it in his bedroom. After my dad passed, I couldn't part with his chair so I took it to Mr. Franka. He told me the chair had "good bones" and it would be worth fixing. He glued all the joints to make it sturdy, helped me pick out fabric from his stock and told me to watch a YouTube video on painting furniture. "After you paint it, bring it back and I will take care of the rest." As you can see in the posted picture, it's quite the transformation. Khaled Franka is an artist with upholstering furniture! We were recommended to Khaled from a neighbor. We had a flowered sectional couch with 2 flowered chairs & a solid colored ottoman. Initially we thought we would cover our furniture with slip covers but decided to redo the entire set. Khaled redid the entire couch & chairs with new stuffing & changed the armrest on the couch from a more square look to a rounded. He also helped us choose a pattern for the chairs & ottoman to compliment the solid blue couch. The armrests fit perfectly. He also made us 3 pillows in the striped pattern. We are extremely happy with his workmanship. You will also get an extra treat when pulling up to his shop because you might hear some Bruce Springsteen music coming from the outside speakers. As soon as we walked in. It smelled like brand new fabric and wood. There were projects being worked on.. as far as I could tell.. there were lots of cool materials.. to be left alone in that place would be mind-numbing.. but luckily Franka was there.. he walked us over to some books and asked us if there was anything that we liked. Sure. Those things were okay. And then he turned around and out of nowhere he pulled out a.. bolt or a roll of fabric if you will.. and it was exactly what we were looking for.. he stripped the fabric from our chairs so he could keep the pattern. We took back the chairs and had them white washed. We return the chair to Franka.. he replaced all the new fabric.. and they look great. We get all kinds of compliments on them.
