I have been to Villa Vittoria twice. The first experience was excellent, both service and food. That was around August 2007 I am guessing. We returned July 9, 2014, party of three:
Carpaccio di Manzo -- Excellent! A bit heavy on the arugula, else I would say exceptional. It was a very good portion, sharing a bite with all without remorse. Two could split this. Would make a nice lunch with a soup. The combination of a basil sauce, provolone, and arugula was delicious.
Mozzarella in Carroza -- Shared between the two others in the party. I found it quite interesting and tasty. Again, portion was generous and sharing a non-issue.
Ravioli di Pollo -- Top notch, a surprise and the best entree of the group. I would order that if I returned.
Vitello Sorrentino -- This is a nice dish, but probably would have been more appetizing in Winter. It is a hearty plate and a generous portion. It is tasty, but it just didn't appeal to me that night. I was hoping for a little more excitement.
Fettuccine Alfredo with Grilled Chicken -- Rated by the party who ordered it a four out of ten. We are accustomed to a plate smothered in creamy sauce. This was, ahem, on the dry side. I thought of suggesting returning it, but we already had service issues. The leftovers were not appealing.
The service: Initially I was optimistic. Friendly and quick to the table, a waiter and assistant to keep bread and water going. As our cocktails ran dry, our water glasses empty, appetizer plates long empty, we all began noticing our waiter was nowhere to be found. We began joking about just leaving before it got worse. Before long I began to seriously consider just paying for what we enjoyed and leaving.
The waiter returned. He was a bit snappy and asked what dressing we wished on our salads. It was an awkward moment as I'm not sure they usually serve salads. He returned pretty quickly with small salads -- balsamic vinaigrette was great -- but when he placed them on the table he was unfriendly and impatient.
Another long wait followed. Clearly something was up. I felt disrespected. The remainder of the evening progressed much like the salads. Very quick and unfriendly delivery from the waiter. We all agreed his assistant would have been a preferential waiter. He was always pleasant at least!
I waited a couple of days before posting this to digest the whole affair. Three stars is generous. The real problem was the waiter, and the sense of disrespect and abandonment we had, all while spending $150 at the restaurant. It just wasn't right. Maybe a bad day, but I won't be hurrying back. High time to explore Point Pleasant...
Read moreAbsolutely horrendous. I've lived in Brick since 1985 and this was my very first time going. I raved about it to my wife and family - because I've only heard very good reviews. Well - I was horribly mistaken.
We had reservations for Thanksgiving 2017. We arrived - place looks beautiful. The waiter, Guillermo was PHENOMENAL. The food was DISGUSTING and actually made me quite ill afterward.
Salad and appetizers arrived - salad consisted of lettuce and dressing only. Meal arrived - Family ordered Traditional Turkey meal. I ordered the surf and turf. I ordered it medium rare - "closer to the rare side". My meal arrived - But let me tell you that everyone in the restaurant knew my meal was arriving - because it smelled up the entire restaurant. FISH SHOULD NOT SMELL WHEN FRESH. Nevertheless - The lobster tail was rancid. Not an opinion. Not subjective. RANCID. I lifted the lobster tail out of it's shell, and the AMMONIA SMELL burned my sinuses. The filet was cooked medium well - and even that was not good due to it taking on the "smell" of the rancid lobster. (Along with our clothes, and my wife's long hair!!!!!!)
I returned it. My option was "Would you like the traditional turkey meal"? I agreed. Turkey was dry. Stuffing was pudding like. Potatoes were horrible.
After we paid our bill of $130.00 plus 30.00 tip for the waiter - we went home, and I spent the next few hours making repeated trips to the bathroom. (I wont go into detail).
Sorry to say - We will never be back. And - My only recommendation to anyone that asks me will be this: Our waiter "Guillermo" was Great. The water tasted good. Very nice inside. And that will be the extent of it.
Villa Victoria Management: Absolutely the worse Thanksgiving Day I have...
Read moreGreat food and wonderful atmosphere. We stopped in for my mother in law's 75th birthday, (and because he had a coupon!). Well, the coupon didn't really help the bill, but it was worth every penny. Seemed to be an older crowd here (50+), and you could tell many of them were regulars. It was a Friday evening, and we had a 6:30 reservation. Glad we did, because the place filled up QUICKLY thereafter. Unbeknownst to us, they had a lounge singer performing (every Friday apparently) - Gerard Esposito, and he was FANTASTIC!! As awkward as it seemed, people were dancing in between the tables in front of the little stage he had set up, and all along the bar area. The food was absolutely delicious, and portions are large. The desserts were ok, but based on how good the dinner was, I was expecting a little better. We have 2 small girls, and usually try to get in and out of a restaurant as quickly as possible - this was a 2 hour endeavor. After about 90 minutes, there was no containing or entertaining them any longer. Although they stayed close to the table, the neighboring patrons all seemed to enjoy watching their antics. While trying to contain our embarrassment, they made us all feel like we were eating with friends and family. We truly enjoyed our experience here, and will certainly be back (preferably...
