Buttermilk Falls is a stunning natural attraction that offers a peaceful retreat for nature lovers and outdoor enthusiasts. Nestled in the heart of New Jersey, the falls provide a breathtaking view of water cascading down a series of rocky steps, creating a soothing soundtrack of flowing water. The area is well-maintained, with clearly marked trails that make it accessible for visitors of all ages and fitness levels.
The hike to the falls is relatively short and easy, making it an ideal spot for families or those looking for a quick nature escape. The surrounding scenery is lush and verdant, with plenty of opportunities to enjoy the local flora and fauna. The observation areas near the falls offer fantastic photo opportunities, especially during the fall when the foliage adds a vibrant splash of color.

Read moreI love Washington Valley Park! Buttermilk Falls is just one great part of a beautiful 700+ acre county park with miles of trails. The falls are about 30 feet tall and range from a trickle during dry spells to a pretty good deluge after a rain or snowmelt. The falls are relatively easy to get to - I would rank what I consider the main trail to the falls, from the Gilbride Road parking lot, as a 3 out of 10 in terms of difficulty. The trails are pretty well marked with blazes and pretty well maintained. That said, I wouldn’t call it a casual walk, it’s a little hike. Wear footwear that supports your ankles. If you are adventurous, there is a large rock near the middle of the pool at the bottom of the falls that you can climb onto and have a picnic...

The waterfall water is generally safe to drink, though I understand it might not be suitable for everyone. Ultimately, I just want my family to cherish these moments in nature and create lasting...
