It used to be fun making a trip to MetroMerch - it was a bit like a treasure hunt. Sometimes we'd make it an event for the whole family and everyone found something. Sadly over this past year or so things have changed. I don't know whether it's a change in management or just cuts in budget or what: Wednesday's used to be their 50cent day and Thursdays were the restocking days. Wednesdays were really fun because you could find some "treasure" that had been left behind throughout the week. Many times you'd have to search for pieces/parts because people will open all the boxes and then spread the contents throughout. But it was usually possible to find most if not all parts of a set by sifting from bin to bin. Well, unfortunately it seems that for whatever reason the restocking process now actually begins on Wednesdays. So now most of the store is closed off/inaccessible and all the remaining bin "merchandise" is scooped up with rubble shovels and dumped into two or three bins. The rest of the bins are chained off and customers have to crowd around the two or three bins that are still open - with the remaining junk sometimes piled two feet high. It is now nearly impossible to find anything - much less a complete set of something. Unfortunately rather than the fun treasure hunt that it used to be, it is now not much more than dumpster diving. It is rare to now find something that's actually worth much more than the 50cents you pay for it - so it's really not much of a "find", if you would. Sadly, the message this sends is that Wednesday "treasure hunters" are no longer valued customers at Metro Merch. They are simply tolerated to help clean out the garbage along with the employees. I realize that customers paying $0.50 per item may not bring in much profit on that day, so it seems that they can be treated as irrelevant and pushed to one end of the store, but I'll have to say that it was the 50 cent Wednesday that introduced us to the store. Since it was so fun, it actually made us come on other days, too; and it brought us back to purchase priced items off the shelves, too. So to the store management I would suggest - treat Wednesdays as a promotion. This might be the first time a customer walks in to your store; this might be their first experience they have with MetroMerch. If they love it, they may come back on the other days - like I did - and they might bring along their family and invite their friends - like I did. Don't treat the Wednesday customers as a nuisance - treat them like a potential return customer. You do a good job welcoming them as they walk in the door - extend that feeling to the entire experience. I know you're wanting to get the restocking done and over with as soon as possible, but people can feel that and feel like they're in the way. I would suggest to put the restocking off until the afternoon - maybe until 2 pm. Give the Wednesday treasure hunters at least a little bit of time to do some searching and finding. (If 2pm doesn't seem doable, then at least maybe leave all the bins open until noon - that gives people a chance to look over everything before items are shoveled up) I think there's a way you can make this a good experience again for customers while still getting your employees out the door at a reasonable time. Hopefully changes/adjustments can be made to make this a 5star...
Read more**edit for "business owner" to read. Okay.. then why didnt you call me back or respond to my facebook message? I am disappointed to see this dishonesty and honestly worried about your customers being misled. You serve a vulnerable population and they deserve better.
BUYER BEWARE. Really dishonest company. They overprice returned merchandise, and try to trick consumers into overpaying, believing they are getting a discount. I sent links to in-store pricing for Best Buy, Walmart, and Amazon to their Facebook messenger, and asked a store manager when/if they periodically price check to make sure they aren’t over-charging. They said “they NEVER change the price” and don’t check for price changes or negotiate. She also claimed this TV was $3300 when it arrived 3 weeks ago. Absolutely not. I bought a year newer version of this same TV in July and it was $2100 including 5 year warranty.
This TV was not the only example of overpriced merchandise in the store. The store is overflowing with individually priced items that are collecting dust because they have been sitting on the shelf so long, without any price adjustments.
Don’t get scammed into paying more than in-store price, for used or...
Read moreThis was one of my favorite stores. I went to Metro every weekend and was spending $200+ a month there. Yesterday, I went in with my normal purse that I've been carrying for the last few times I've been in there. I was stopped and told by an employee that I needed to leave my bag in the car because it was "too big". I walked back out to my car in the rain and left. I work in financial fraud, so I know how unwise it is to leave your purse in a car. When I was there last weekend, that same newish female employee was loudly telling another customer that she couldn't bring in her purse and everyone in the store looked over to see what was going on. I was so embarrassed for the customer because her purse wasn't THAT big. It was average sized and what most women carry. Yesterday, I got to experience what that lady felt as I got called out for my own bag. I'm not going back as long as this stupid rule is in place. I'm not leaving my purse in my car or changing purses just to go dig in bins. There's cameras all over the store. I don't see a point in punishing your regular paying customers. Here's a pic of my "too large" bag...
