Wow! First I want to start off by saying that I first took my concerns to the Supervisor who said she would speak to me when I asked for a Manager to only feel like she brushed off my concerns as if she couldn't believe I was even complaining. My BIGGEST concern was when my family of 4 were standing in line waiting to get food and we watched a worker walking in without washing his hands and went straight to handling food with NO GLOVES as we watched him wipe his nose, scratch his ears, scratch his head, scratch his privates (through is pants) pulling up his pants and then going right back to pulling chips out of the bag to put in the bowls without with NO GLOVES, for the nachos. All of this happened within the 10-15 mins we stood in line. We then walked up towards the next food stand and saw the same man emptying one trash can and replacing the bag then continued into the food trailer again WITHOUT washing his hands or putting any gloves on and started handling the food. When I brought this up to the Supervisor at snow island her response was we subcontract them out so I can't do anything about that. I just personally feel like if you are allowing others inside your establishment you should want them to carry the same standards as you even more so if it is going to look bad on your business.
Now my second concern was the amount of money we paid to get in and did not recieve the experience advertised on their website. We are a family of 4 and paid a total close to $230 after taxes and a $23 processing fee to purchase the tickets to get in and that included the military discount. (Which is only given to the active service member and does not include family members which was not stated on the website in the Military discount area)
We tried to go ice skating only to be given ice skates that were so worn out it was almost impossible to make it around the rink one time. There were no workers monitoring the rink and there were people going in every direction vs everyone going in one direction which made it very difficult to skate or even enjoy your time. We went around two laps very slowly due to the poor quality of the skates and madness of everyone going in different direction before we decided it wasn't even worth being in there. When I brought up the pour quality of the skates to the Supervisor her only response to that was "I know there are a couple new pairs up there."
The carnival rides were small and poor. My husband said they looked like 20 year old rides.
The "snow area" where you could play in the snow was fun but I was very very disappointed at all of the trash that laid around the edges of the snow. For the price we paid alone not including every other family there I would expect the cleanliness to be better. This was only an hour after they had been open.
The one thing that did live up to our expectations was the snow tubing even though we were disappointed that they only had 3 lanes running out of the 5 with the line being very long and wrap down by the rides.
My family and my self were all so excited to take this trip and have some really fun family time making memories only to be disappointed in the end.
Their website looks so amazing and fun but it is very deceiving.
I truly can not believe the price we paid for pour quality and the lack of concerns when it came to the way the works were handling the food.
As of now I would never recommend anyone to not only NOT spend that amount of money to go there but to also not make a 2.5 hour trip that my family did to go there, pay that price expecting fun memories to be made only to be given a poor experience and no one concerned about poor quality of things or the handling...
Read moreI went there at their last weekend before they closed for the year and felt ripped off. I wasn't going to go but I saw that there was no gate fee for February for parking (usually $20). I went there last year with my kids and it was enjoyable. It's like a carnival you see at the mall parking lot, but with some fake snow.
Last year you can pay for an all day pass or buy tickets. My kids are 5 and 7 so I was going to buy a few tickets and call it a day. I went 1.5 hours before closing and was going to come home for dinner. I live in Gwinnett and figure it's a nice day, support our local business.
Well, guess what. They changed their ticketing process. You're now forced to buy a day pass, which is $55 a person.
With my kids there already...I'd be a terrible father to say no. I sucked it up, knowing I'd pay $150 for 1.5 hours of entertainment. Then I notice there's a processing fee. What's the processing fee for?? Imagine if every time you bought something from Amazon they just throw on 10% extra just for kicks. I had to use their computer to pay, which requires you to create an account..
Why? Like, really, why? So they can sell my data, or what? The account creation process was terrible and the staff didn't care. They stood there watching me struggle as their software kept throwing random errors. After finally able to checkout, I complained how terrible the process is and they admitted that they knew.
Even if you had an entire day to spend, it's not worth the $60 a person. My kids had fun, yes. But they also have fun at the local park. Additionally, I can go to Stone Mountain's snow themed attraction - which is what I'm going to do next time.
My advice to the owners:
Till I see reviews in future years mentioning these changes I am staying away and will patron other winter...
Read moreSo not worth the money, nor your time. Very rinky-dink. Snow was solid ice, and the entire family just kept getting hurt from falling on it or riding down the hill. No one over 25 years old working anywhere. Called ahead to confirm I could use a $100 Margaritaville gift card there, and I was told I could. Go figure, we get there, and we can’t use it. I’m holding up the line, which was incredibly long anyway, and my three kids are fully dressed for snow, looking through the fence at all the kids tubing. What was I supposed to do? None of the employees had the authority to help me out, so I just gave them my credit card and paid. Almost $150 for 4 people. The employees sent us to a gift shop because that’s where the manager would be and could refund us for the gift card debacle. Of course, said manager couldn’t do anything. We were told we could use that Margaritaville gift card at other Margaritavilles but not this one. We went to the snow play area first. Terrible. Solid ice. Everyone in the family fell or was hurt within 3 minutes. The snow play area is in the deep-end of the wave pool if you’re familiar with the park in the summer. The lines for tubing were so long and slow. Snow Mountain at Stone Mountain Park is so much better and much better run and managed. Also, if you want to use a card to pay for food, they charge you $2 more. I never leave poor reviews because I know people are probably just doing the best they can, but I need to save other families from wasting so much time and money...
