We enjoyed the campground and all the amenities that it had to offer. Our lot was in a great spot overlooking the lake. The woods to get to the beach were kind of hard to navigate bc of the storm that went thru there the week before. It had knocked down a bunch of trees, and one of the trees had fallen onto the rv that was right next door to us. It was kind of an eyesore, but I understand that it couldn't be moved right away. I believe that it was moved on our last day. We booked our stay under the SPLASH promo. This included 4 waterpark admissions for each day of our stay. The way it is set up is frustrating. You have to go to the campground office and pick up your 4 codes, create an account , add each person's detailed info to the account and then there are waivers to fill out for each person under 18. The system kept messing up, so I had to go back into the office and get help to get the passes figured out. By the time our 4 teens were able to get into the waterpark they only had a couple hours left to swim. There needs to be an easier way to expedite this process. We had to go get our codes from the office and start the process over for each day we had passes. We feel that we lost a lot of time at the waterpark because of this. On our 2nd day of our stay we approached the office about our internet not working and trouble with our tv's. They helped to get the cable up and going but unfortunately, the whole resort was having issues. When we tried to get our spot on the Wednesday cruise reserved we couldn't do it because of the internet issues. We went to the waterpark, had a fun time there and went to have a late lunch at Landshark. After eating we were having trouble getting our check. The server Josh was very nice and was trying hard to help us get back to the park. He said the systems had crashed and that he would havetowrite a bill by hand with my credit card info. I reluctantly did this so we could get on our way. We spent like an additional 40 minutes trying to get our bill payed. We were able to get back to the waterpark for a few hours before we had to go prepare ourselves to see if we could get on the cruise. After not being able to get the cruise confirmation we stopped by the camp office and the said the cruise was overbooked. They said to just show up at Harbour Landing before 8 pm to see if we could get a spot on the boat. The crew at the boat told us to stand off to the side until everyone boarded so they could see if they had room to accommodate our party of 6. After everyone was aboard the boat the captain called us over and said we could go on as standbys. He then processed us onto the boat but unfortunately we were not able to get seats or a table so we stood for the majority of the cruise until a person at a table let us have a couple of their unused chairs. We did enjoy our time on the cruise and were very happy that we were able to get on. The systems didn't get back online until after lunch on our last day. We ended up just having to skip the waterpark that day because by the time we got our vouchers and entered into the system we wouldn't have had time to do the park and still do a previous commitment that we had scheduled. We feel that we were short-changed on our waterpark time because of all the issues we encountered. I feel that Margaritaville could be a really great resort and campground if some of the kinks can get worked out. Thank you . Christopher...

The overall resort is like a small city. There is a hotel with various restaurants, event/wedding venues, a beach restaurant, but you can’t go in the water, and a waterpark. There are three separate camping areas on Blue Ridge Island. Each campground had either “glamping tents” or “cottages”, i.e. tiny homes/park models/small mobile homes and campsites. Two of the campgrounds have concrete pads. We camped at the campground off of Sea Plane Loop. All sites are gravel with full hook ups including cable, however, cable was not necessary as they have fabulous WiFi. My daughter streamed Netflix the entire time we were there. For me the campsites were disappointing. They are very large and there’s a good distance between campsite, whereas, the campgrounds with concrete pads were pretty close. Our campsite, #140, was pretty unlevel. If we were to pull up next to the utilities, we would have been on a 30-degree slope. We parked the motorhome on the flattest area of the site and still needed to raise the front end. Fortunately, we have 20 ft of hose and plenty of electrical line to reach the utilities. And to dump, my husband had to “walk” the hose so that it would go downhill. We noticed that other campsites were also very unlevel. Our picnic table and firepit were reasonably close to our motorhome. However, some sites one would have to walk 20 – 30 steps downhill to get to their picnic table and firepits, which were and approximately 50 feet away. Also, a lot of the firepits weren’t on level ground to put chairs around. Yes, there is laundry. However, there is only one for the approximate 170 campsites and the laundry was in a completely different loop and unless you were camping on that loop it was far to far away to walk. If you camp at Margaritaville you must have some sort of transportation, i.e., scooter, e-bikes, golf cart (which they rent), or car/truck. To get to the laundry it is probably 2 miles away. To get to the tram stop it is probably 2 miles away. If we didn’t camp with another couple, we would have been stuck at the campsite as we did not tow our car.
One of my pet peeves is bathhouses that lack hooks and places to set your stuff. The bathhouse on Sea Plane Loop is the worse as there were no hooks and one bench outside of the shower area. Other than that, the bathhouse was clean with 2 toilets and 3 sinks.
And finally, the place is expensive. We averaged $100 a night. Their rates fluctuate with on a daily basis, weekends higher than week days. I’ve stayed in better KOA’s for less money and more amenities to do and close by.
Now, if you’re into have Margaritas delivered to your campsite, this is the place. On the weekends the drink golf cart drives around to the campsites offering Margaritas, Rum Runners, Pina Coladas to name a few.
Overall, the place is very interesting, I’ve not camped at a place similar to it. We usually stick to KOA’s and state campgrounds. As always, different strokes for different folks, but I probably would not stay again. If you want to go to Lake Lanier, Bolling Mill State Park is a far better campground, but...
Read moreWe were treated to an anniversary getaway for 3 nights at Margarittaville RV resort and it was great, however there’s much to note about this campground. It is, much the same as most RV “Resorts”, it has nicely sized and well laid out sites, long and wide, full concrete slab with graded drainage, full hookups, very nice bathhouses and more put together amenities. That being said, if I was paying to camp here I’d honestly rather go somewhere else. The rates are pretty high, and we had a deluxe “waterfront” site which meant it was even more expensive than the other sites. The layout of all the sites is so cramped that it feels like you are driving through a parking lot when you are going round the loop. Given that most people are driving Class A RV’s, fifth wheels and large rigs the tow pigs are equally as large and so though these sites are nicely sized, they are incredibly close together on the inner side of the loop, the regular sites. They don’t leave much room to spread out a little before you are up against or staring the your neighbours camper. That was the biggest drawback for us personally. Far too tightly laid out sites for a premium price. Now if that doesn’t bother you, then it’s a fantastic place! The views of the lake are very nice, in a quiet cove where you can watch the waves lap in and listen to the boats. The open game grill area was really nice, could’ve been cleaner for sure but has two really nice sized propane grills, a high top bar and lighting. Shuffleboard, fire pits and cot hole by the common area around the bathhouse. The bathhouse itself was the nicest campground bathhouse I’ve ever been in, slight drawback, there’s only two stalls and only a single shower which technically has another toilet in it. The shower is wet room style which is great but the men’s atleast had no curtain and so after I used it the whole floor was covered in water 🤷🏻♂️ but it was clean, nicely painted and appointed, even has a TV playing music 24/7. The park is obviously beautiful and I thoroughly recommend renting a golf cart and just driving the islands and exploring it. Sitting by the bottom of the Golf course where you have wide open views of the lake on both sides of the road is stunning. Great campground but definitely has some cons, if that doesn’t bother you...
