Veterans Park Event Center — Attraction in Cabot

We had my son's birthday paty at the indoor pool today. Nice venue, super nice staff at the front desk and easy to book. Unfortunately, the young lady assigned as the "lifeguard", along with her friend also working there, fealt the need to make fun of my autistic son during his attempts to make it across the inflatable obstacle course (that I paid extra for) and appeared to be especially tickled to mock us when he finally made it across on his 10th try and the family clapped and cheered. Luckily, my son didn't notice the antic . Oh, and of course all of the parents were in the pool with the littles to make sure they are safe but- it's safe to say "lifeguards " shouldn't have their heads buried in their cell when they aren't busy mocking people..

Fair price but the set up isn’t great and overall kind of disappointing. They offer a lot in the way of group classes, a pool, small indoor track, small cardio and free weight area, child care, but the facility is pretty small for a “gym” and they don’t let you use some of the fitness rooms/spin bikes when they are vacant. No room for stretching/ab work without being in someone’s way or right in front of equipment unless you want to do this in the hallways. The classes are fun if you like choreographed classes. Staff is pleasant but they often seem overwhelmed. My main issue is that we signed up for an annual membership but due to work schedules, we weren’t using it often enough to make it worth it and they won’t let you cancel your membership unless you move or have a medical reason, which seems odd. The event center is THE place to handle any and all of your business or personal events in. We held my son’s 1st birthday party here, and it was nothing short of an effortless experience. Mollie was one of the nicest and professional people I have ever dealt with. Her and her crew handled everything and made it as simple as it could have been. When we showed up they had everything exactly as expected. During the duration of the party there was an event coordinator down the hall if we needed anything, and we thought that was assuring.
