I really enjoyed walking around looking at all of the Dickens characters. Also really liked the light display on the courthouse. They had a few rows of benches set up, but it was standing room for 90% of the people that were there. We were okay standing, but they really should have a significant more amount of seating for this event.
The carriage ride left a little to be desired. They have a cover over it, which is nice because it's cold out, but it hangs down so far that you can't see anything, unless you're a child or a very short adult. There's also no discussion whatsoever by the driver. He doesn't talk about anything you pass, he doesn't even greet you or thank you, doesn't tell you the horse's names or literally anything. You pay $12 to ride around a couple blocks, not seeing anything and just hearing the clumps of the horse. The biggest kicker of all, was just trying to get up into it. The left side footstep, is so low that it's a giant climb to get in to the carriage. The right side is not as low, but they don't let you get in on that side. I did get out on that side though and it was much easier, even though I don't think they wanted me to.
Everything else about the Dickens Village was great. We did go into the Welcome Center and the lady in there was nice and it had a little store so you could purchase some stuff, i got some good smelling soap. There wasn't too much information, but she did tell us some stuff and she was very friendly. I definitely recommend coming here and visiting the Dickens...
Read moreThe location was an easy find and hardly any traffic. Most store are open during the week at the moment. On a Sunday, we found a local restaurant open in town. A glass store was closed on Sunday. The Christmas displays was very nice. I wish the photo studio was open as they had a nice display on how the figures are made. Wood framed bodies and a Styrofoam head base. Could not see the signs explaining how done. Nice photo day as little cars or residents in town. Windows display needs camera lens or phone camera held on the glass with no flash while taking a photo. It helps stop most of the refected street images...
Read moreMy youngest adult son and I love exploring. I was looking for fun things in and found Dickens Victorian Village in Cambridge. Well worth the Drive. Neat town, with some nice shops that were unique and interesting. Started at welcome center where the ladies were fantastic. Walked the main street and viewed all the amazing hand made characters and scenes. City building had a wonderful light show to music that we really enjoyed. Finished with a very good dinner at Theos Restaurant. Will be back for sure. Check before you go, on select days there are other...
