The Mountain In Canton Texas — Attraction in Canton

My sister and I stayed in the Green Gables cottage at the Mountain. It was super quaint and cozy, very comfortable! The bedding was clean, soft and cozy. Being in early March, it was a bit chilly at night and we had a little faux fireplace/stove that kept us toasty. Bev and her staff were so nice, hospitable and gracious. They escorted their guests up and down the hill with their golf carts as we couldn't park by our room during Trade Days weekend. But they were always prompt and so nice. We actually had a thunderstorm our first night where the city tornado sirens went off. Bev called us personally and offered for us to join them in a solid cinder block building for sheltering in place. Of course, we went! It passed quickly but we weren't alone in a new place! Would love to return and stay in another of her...

The shops are WONDERFUL but they BLAST you out with Christian and country music along with some very bad karaoke. I was trying to talk to a shop owner about size on a skirt but was drowned out with an off key song called "Two Steppin with Jesus" How about some instrumental, calming music? I'm from the area but it resembled a Beverly Hillbillies snipit. The mountain is going to fail if I does not realize you can't grow a younger audience who would leave within 5 minutes ! Im of the older generation and I felt embarrassed for the Mountain to put on that backwoods bash. I was looking for the guy to pull out a washboard and moonshine jug. Just...

Great place to visit and do some late night shopping. Lots of great shops & restaurants. Come stay in one of the awesome B&Rs there are many to chose from. Then shop and be very close to your room so you can rest and go out shopping again. The mountian is open : Thursday from 4 to 8 for a sip and shop. Enjoy a great wine at our winery or a great wine slushy in many great flavors. Friday it's open from 9am till 10 pm with live entertainment and shopping. Saturday from 9am to 10pm also with live entertainment and great shopping. Then finish of a great weekend with Sunday shopping to finalize those gift needs from 9am to 5pm. Fun for all ages...
