We rented a cabin from June 26 thru August 15, 2020.$900/mo for a Queen Bed and Bath room with an advertised full kitchen. The kitchen consists of a mini fridge, toaster oven, coffeemaker, and microwave. It is non smoking and there is a smoking area next to the front door. We had zero major complaints with the place as we are travelers for our jobs and have spent the last 2 years on the road. We have seen and stayed everywhere. The bed has a large enough dip that only one of us could sleep in the bed at a time. The wifi was so poor that I had to sit outside in 90+ degree weather in order to conduct my business calls as a recruiter. But overall, it was nothing more than an just an annoyance.
We informed them that we would be leaving and returning home on Friday ( a day earlier than we had paid for and sent another tenant from our site to rent the unit on Sunday, leaving a day to clean and make ready).
Two weeks prior, when I went to pay my rent, the manager's wife informed me that after I just ran my card for $450, that they were experiencing phone line problems and that I needed to go get $450 CASH for my rent. I checked my bank and it showed the charge as pending. I called the bank and they instructed me to tell the hotel to cancel the charge before settling the batch or I would be charged on my account. I told the owners this information and they assured me that I was misinformed and that SHOULD something go wrong, they would reimburse me without any problems. Because I didnt want to cause any problems or be told to leave, I went and took out $450 ADDITIONAL dollars out of the ATM to pay them.They were happy and 2 days later the charge fell off of my account.
After I had left the hotel on Friday (2 weeks later), a $450 charge from Miss Kitty Longbranch Hotel shows up on my account. Immediately, I knew that they didnt cancel my charge or this was possibly a scam. I called Tony Lewis, the owner, and asked why I had a charge on my card when I had left 4 days prior with nothing outstanding. He informed that his phone lines were working again after being down for 2 weeks. I told him that bc they didnt cancel my transaction (after I paid cash instead( that I would like a prompt refund in full just like I did for him. He began to tell me how I was wrong about the charge, how does he know I'm not trying to scam him, what do I expect him to drive my money to Colorado?, and in and on. I tried to be firm and adamant about resolving the issue because I didnt want to wait a week to get my money back when I was told to get cash instead of them waiting to get their commm issues handled. He began to scream at my on the phone and was so adamant that "he assures me that I am wrong about the charges" that I finally hung up and went to my bank. Mt bank was able to file fraud charges because they can see the authorization from 2 weeks prior but then never settling, they also could see that I directly took $500 out of my ATM roughly an hour later. Then see that the charge reappeared 2 weeks later because they fixed the phone lines at the hotel. I am currently waiting for the bank to investigate the shady business practices that they do. They act all sweet and make you think it's a Mom and Pop like establishment while trying unto scam you. Travelers beware! Use cash! And beware of how they will treat you on a day to day basis. They love you until you have an issue and then it's a while different story. My husband returned to the hotel bc our son is still there in another room and was threatened to have the cops called on him and even told my son to leave conveniently after he just paid $450 cash for the next two weeks. This place should be reported to the BBB and find a new business because customer service and hospitality are I'll suited professions for these two. I am currently being accused of a bedbug statement in reviews and threatened by one of their tenants. I stayed at this place for 2 days short of a month. During this time my ex left and stated to the owners that he was leaving and had a new place. For the rest of my time here, he stalked and harassed me. Tenants saw this and even called the police. They reported it each time to the owners and they did nothing to ban him or protect me as a paying customer. I was asked to get a PO. Went that route and they take a while. It isn’t instant. Quick fix for where I’m staying was to ban him. One day I’m asked to leave with no explanation and because I asked, legal crap all of a sudden gets thrown in the air about how I have no rights. Not what I asked! I wanted to know what I did wrong. Tony called and told me to leave just after he had learned that I got a new room somewhere else. He then had me banned. I left the room clean and was already moving out so pure nonsense on their part. But did they ever ban the crazy ex? I had to buy my own lock to be installed since the door can be pushed open unless it is slammed very hard. For weeks during my stay they knew about the dog hair accumulated on the base boards from someone else because I didn’t have any animals. The room had a very nasty odor in which I tried to get rid of. Never made a big deal of it. 3 days before being asked to leave, the same tenant who recently threatened me had a very drunk couple of friends over. These friends threatened and tried to attack me over a cell phone charger I had borrowed for a whole 4 hours. I called canton pd as being mocked going up the stairs. Did the owners do anything about this? Nope. And then the last day I was there, I woke up with bites all over my legs. I showed them to people there and asked what they were. Never did I say bed bugs cause what sense does it make to all of a sudden have them after staying there for all that time. Not to mention I had to sleep on the couch and never the bed due to the crazy ex still being allowed to come around. While I left for the hospital during my stay, my sister handled everything and we made sure they were paid. Nothing I did was wrong. I was respectful until I started getting yelled at for asking what I did wrong on my last day. I called the owners today to find out why I’m being accused and threatened for supposedly posting the bedbugs as well as for being told my IP address came up. They informed me that they hired someone to look into it. Okay, so how does your tenant know this? She had to have been told something to call and accuse me of the IP address. I will expect a full apology for the harassment and allegations. This is my review and I have nothing to hide! Never did I even consider doing this because it’s not who I am. I had a lot of appreciation for several people here. I no longer have respect for this place. I did speak with a young lady and her husband who use to clean there and told her about what happened. She told me my door had always been like it was due to being unlevel and when I showed her my legs. She told me she has seen that there before. But I never said bedbugs. Creepy weekly guests, drove by & witnessed 4 police cruisers in the driveway. Everything looks broke & worn out, held together by duct tape. The price is ridiculous. Dark & dangerous looking with no lighting outside at night. Bedding smelled unwashed & wrinkled like it wasn't changed. Towels looked folded by a drunkard, stale old coffee, food particles & grease all over inside & out of the microwave. This was a nightmare! How do people get away with charging for this trash?
