My husband and I had a rare date night here this past Saturday night. We ordered the nigiri and sashimi plate with a special roll to share, along with an order of the spring rolls. The meal came with soup and a salad, and the wait time for it to come to the table after ordering was not long at all. My husband had the miso soup, he said it was pretty good (he's picker than I am though lol). I had the salad, it had a really good ginger dressing on it. The dressing was sweet and light, I could taste the ginger without it being overpowering, something I've had issues with in other restaurants. There was plenty for the 2 of us to eat. The spring rolls were fantastic, definitely my favorite part of the meal. The restaurant appeared very clean, and the staff was prompt and very kind. I believe it may have been a Mexican restaurant prior to Kyonekko taking the building over, but they have done a really nice job of painting and decorating so you can't tell anymore. The restaurant is handicapped accessible. I'm currently in a walking boot, and have some mobility issues due to problems with my feet. I did not have any trouble getting in though. If you go around the west side (facing HWY 19) of the building there is access for mobility impaired entrance. There is also plenty of space around the tables. If someone is using a wheelchair or walking aid they should have no problem getting to or sitting at any of the tables. The only reason I didn't give them 5 stars was because of the temperature inside. Unfortunately, it was hotter than Hades in there. We asked our waiter about it, and he told us they were having problems with the ac unit. I spotted the thermostat on our way out, and it was reading 85°. Don't get me wrong, it was still cooler than outside (gotta love Texas summers 😅) but the fish started getting warmer than I'd like as we were eating because it was so hot inside. We still finished the meal though as it was never at an unsafe temperature, just warming up. If we'd sat longer though, I may have forgone some of the nigiri and sashimi just to be safe. I understand things like that happen though, and neither of us got sick, the food was still very good and well prepared. I will definitely go back, but will be checking to see if the AC is fixed before...
Read moreI called my order in from across the street when I saw they were still open. The host answered and promptly asked me to hold. I was on hold 3 min and finally hung up and called back. The phone was no longer working and answered with a Spanish recording and then went busy. I decided to just walk in and order to go and wait. I placed my order of 2 heart attacks appetizers. The same mle host who answered told me 15 min. I sat down.I watched 4 families leave and 4 more enter in to dine. I watched those tables recieve drinks and appetizers in 10 min from seating.20 min passed and I asked about my order. He told me it still was not ready. 25 min I asked him how my order of 2 appetizers isn't ready when I have been waiting 10 past the time I was told and I have seen new table walk in and recieve 4 appetizers on their tables in 10 minutes? He just looked stupid. I asked him" yourtelling me a 25 min wait for an appetizer is normal here , because I didn't call in my order....I'm here waiting g at a table like all the other diners who already got their food in half the time I e been waiting on mine." Again he said " yes 20 min is normal." This made a complete contradiction to what we could both see with our own eyes so I have to add he was a GASLIGHTING LIAR to the review. After this he personally went back and made my order in 7 min right in front of me!! He sucks and their...
Read moreUpdate! Back again, another wonderful service by Aldi and good sushi. Music is nice too, similar to Air Supply & Journey. We had The Cali Sunshine Roll- super good. Crab, cream cheese, avocado and eel sauce, spicy mayo served warm with a crispy tempura crust. My hubs steak hibachi was tender and cooked perfectly. The veggies were seasoned so well. You can get tender steak hibachi and sushi for a fraction you pay at Benihana! Service still impeccable! Sushi was fresh and so good. What a surprise- the 1st Monday Roll was our favorite. We also liked the Vegetable Roll. The Miso and Onion soups are both very good and full of flavor. The ginger salad is what you expect at a hibachi restaurant. You won't find a live hibachi show here as they prepare for in the kitchen, but you get awesome tender steak hibachi, and the best vegetables that have a little char & caramelized - better than any I've had a hibachi joints. If you are in East Texas or Canton and want hibachi, don't be afraid to try this. We have been 3 times and have had 3 great servers. The manager has always come to check on us, too. Negatives- No hot tea the days we were there. This would have helped because- *Bring a jacket in if you are cold natured, the a/c works great...
