Beautiful 574 acre park in Carnation, at the confluence of the Tolt and Snoqualmie rivers. This spacious park has something for everyone, including hiking (up to 12 miles, with lots of shorter loops possible, plus easy access to the 27-mile long paved multiuse Snoqualmie trail), camping (tent, yurt, RV, and even a converted shipping container), a playground, a barn for events, and river access for fishing, etc. Parking is free and ample, and you reach most of the park from the parking lot by crossing a spectacular, very swingy, 500-foot long wooden suspension bridge built by the Army Reserves. The park was originally constructed by the Boy Scouts in the mid-70s, so the camping area has an open, summer-camp, everyone-can-see-everyone feel, rather than a cabin-in-the-woods feel (though there are some more remote sites). Trails lead from the main camping area through riparian hardwood forest, and they are mostly wide, flat, and well-maintained, though you can head uphill if you want more of a challenge. Wildlife is plentiful, ranging from bears to songbirds to garter snakes sunning themselves along the path, and in the fall you can look for Coho in the river about half a mile or so from the suspension bridge. The location is gorgeous -- the area where the park sits is the historic wintering grounds of the Snoqualmie-area tribes -- and the Cascade foothills add to the beautiful views from the river. You're not very far from cities big and small and the park is popular, but it's also large enough that it's easy to find solitude and quiet if that's what you're looking for. Bathrooms are the usual outhouse-style. Running water is available. Dogs allowed on leash (and all the dogs we saw really were on leash). A wonderfully detailed map is...
Read moreThis is one of the best kept secrets in Washington State! This campground is AMAZING! Just be aware that they are very strict about the 3pm check in time. In fact, they will close off the entrance and ask anyone showing up early to park in the overflow parking lot and wait until 3pm so don't show up early thinking you'll get a head start on setting up your spot if it's empty. Secondly, sites 6, 7, and 8 have very sharp turns so if you're not in a Class A or a very small rig you may not be able to unhitch your tow vehicle or station your rig very easily because the pull through spot is shaped like the letter C. Spot 17 is the longest and straightest pull through but it's wide open and next to the tent camping section. The campground is absolutely beautiful with the suspension bridge, the two rivers (Tolt and Snoqualmie) and the ample hiking trails in the foothills surrounding. Plus, the little town of Carnation is awesome with a great thrift store (re-incarnation) and a great grocery store that is walking distance from the campsite. Just follow the signs to town. There is a dumping station on the way out on the right side in the Storage facility on the corner. his is a really nice and very large county park. It is well off the beaten path in Carnation, but not so far off the grid that you aren't near useful resources. Not more than 3 blocks away is a small shopping center with a few small cafes, a Starbucks and a grocery store. Picnicking as an out-of-towner is easy with food so close by. The park is beautiful and very secluded and very large. There is plenty of parking and lots of space to roam, along with a number of very long walking/running/biking pathways.I would give this campground a 10 out...
Read moreHonestly, this has to be one of the best campgrounds my fiance & I have been to. All of the rv spots are in a big circle with the bathrooms in the middle of the giant feild in the middle of all the spots. Each spot is a pull through making it easier for beginners, they are all a very good amount of space as well. The bathrooms are always clean & the shower has a stall door you can close with a dry area that has two hooks, a sink, & a bench. The shower stall is quite spacious, & has a bench. Only downside is that you have no control over the temperature (although it is always warm) & you have to press a button every 30 seconds to a minute to keep it running. The road is fairly smooth. Only downside is the 7 days a month rule. So that everyone has a chance to stay there. Highly recommend staying here! Only $35 a day, definitely a steal compared to other nearby campgrounds & rv parks daily charge. Emily has been an amazing help & my go to with scheduling & even general questions I may have. A few other things to note: It is a very tranquil area, you can just hear nature. There is a grocery store within walking distance as well as a sewage dump just down the road (which you have to pass when leaving, it is in the same lot at the storage units & the laundry mat) where is costs $9 to dump. & there are plenty of trails to walk a few right next...
