Unfortunately, our experience was very negative. Everything from the service, to food quality/taste, even bathroom cleanliness was just terrible. You name it: long wait to put in our order, long wait for food to be served, then once served it came out wrong, never had a check back from our server. My son decided he could eat his even though it came out wrong. Could not find our server to fix mine until my son had finished eating. Instead of asking my my entire plate to be remade, I just asked for a tamale without sauce or cheese on the side. However the server brought out a whole new plate, still incorrect -- smothered in sauce, but at least without cheese so I could eat it without having a reaction -- then charged me for two entrees. When I asked about it to make sure it wasn't a mistake he became very unpleasant and unprofessional. He wanted to argue with me, said it was my fault, and then said he's never had a problem with any other customer than me. Huh. Not my idea of customer service but okay. Food itself was greasy, like pools of grease underneath the Mexican rice. Gross. Oh, by the way our server was the manager. I hope your experience is better than ours. For my part you couldn't pay me to revisit this...
Read moreI usually don't head out in the evening, but wide awake, hungry, and just wanted to get out for a bit. So, came to Carnation and my first choice is "The Carnation Cafe" literally a great place to eat. Website shows open til 9p. I arrive at 8:15 and it's closed. Go down to Xtapa, and the sign shows open. Great!! I go around the block as the street parking is full. Go inside, the nice waiter says yes open for food and drinks. So I go back to the bar and the waitress/bartender says "I just did last call" so I ask about food. She says no it's last call. Which I reply, they just told me okay for food and you're sign shows OPEN. Bartender goes out to the front of the restaurant and talks with a server, then tells me, "I've only been here a month," as I was walking out. She follows me with "blah, blah, blah.. I responded, with "before you do last call and serve no more food, turn your sign around to show you're closed. I told her no problem, but change you're sign to closed, I'm going to Pete's Club. And walked out. Pete's was serving a Pita Steak Pita and fries, Bingo, and the cook came out to talk with me. 5 stars for Pete's Club. .The oldest bar in...
Read moreIdk where to start I hate writing bad reviews... The chips were like warmed store bought chips Took 20mins to get our water Took 40 mins to get our food my no name was burnt with loads of sour cream and little dallop of guac BFs steak fajitas were tough came on a sizzling plate but cold and oddly tasted sweet and had a weird tang taste. Peppers were halfway cut and barely fried like half a pepper ripped through but not totally so it was still half a pepper. His sides that came with it were cold, lettuce shreds looked like it had sat out on the counter for hours, the condiment sides were just thrown on a random plate nothing of his platters were matching like they usually are and again half the tiny plate was sour cream with a tiny bit of pica and a tiny bit of guac for 25.99! Took another 30 mins to get our check. The worst part was he woke up in the middle of the night with food poisoning (probably the weird tang steak they were trying to cover with loads of sauce) Carnation local grew up here and unfortunately will never eat...
