First of all I would like to thank God for blessing me to live one more day on this Earth. Covenant Church is a place where we can Fellowship together. I have visit Covenant Church and our experience grateful. But we are talking about a well-known Church in the community I will be honest. Our experience at this church was fantastic. We enjoy serving God and also getting my praise on with the Believers. You cannot go wrong serving God. We have some friends that our members Covenant Church. This is what happened to me just morning on this glorious day that God bless us which is Monday I'm in the car driving listening my Christian music getting my praise on and it hit me listening at this but I really want you to focus on listening to this story. It was a lady name Cheryl and she was talking to one of her co-worker friend name Linda so they went to talk in the break room so the lady named Cheryl was telling the story to Linda she said I was a drug addict one time and I had to check myself into rehab this was in the pass though Okay so I was strung out so bad one time of my life I was on the street trying to come up with money for my habits so Linda say I understand yo situation in the past and then Cheryl say what you do and then Linda say yes I do and then Cheryl see if you haven't been a drug addict how can you understand if you've never been in this situation so Cheryl thought about it for a minute and say that's right I have to be a drug addict to be able to understand the situation if I haven't been a drug addict user then you cannot understand the situation. Once you go through it then you will understand it and then you can come back to me and tell me about it. The Holy Spirit came to me just morning and it was very deep in my soul that is the reason why I am sharing this with you all. We all have a story to tell someone it is a blessing to be able to sure I will testimonies to one another but listen to this we go through trials and tribulations each and every day that God bless us to be on this Earth. I have realized as I got older and wiser stop putting off for tomorrow what you can do today my mother is still with us she is 73 years old my grandfather and my grandmother is passed on while I have this opportunity to be a part of my mother's life I do so. My father also is passed on I thank God each and every day of my life that I can say I'm a blessed person and a anointed one. Some of those was chosen and I am one of those I am evangelist and I accepted in the name of Jesus Christ. We all have different gifts and I thank God for my gifts. I'll take my day that God allow me on this Earth One Day at a Time and I cherish it to the fullest. So I will close this one for now and leave the serenity prayer grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change the courage to change the things that I can and the wisdom to know the difference in Jesus...
Read moreI love the teaching at this church! Pastor Mike is phenomenal! They also do a lot of global outreach, which is wonderful. I would give this church 5 stars except for a one issue:
I started coming here in 2003. Back then, they still had a church choir. I moved up to Little Elm in 2005 and started attending one of their satellite churches closer to home. That church eventually split off and became it's own church and the message changed. After going through some major life issues, I felt compelled to find a new place to worship. I decided to go back to Covenant and see if the preaching was as good as I remembered. The preaching was!!! But they did change to the more modern format of having a live band play on stage, which I enjoyed.
The musicians are highly talented and the songs are great. But after about the first year, I noticed the music became progressively louder. I started clocking the decibel levels because it would hurt my ears and give me a headache just about every Sunday. We went from 85 to 95, and recently, I clocked them around 105. I have to bring ear plugs to attend church now. Even with ear plugs, I often times have to wait in the lobby for the worship (music) portion to end, to even be able to enter the sanctuary. I have talked to a couple of their volunteer staff who have told me that they refuse to work in the sanctuary during the music because of the loudness. There are times I have just watched from home because I didn't feel like getting stared at for waiting in the lobby with my family (who agree that it is incredibly and unnecessarily loud)
Pastor Mike has addressed the church a couple of times about the issue. He states they are trying to appeal to a younger crowd and will not turn it down. I am not old, I am 30, but even I can't take it. It is like attending a concert every weekend. I have sent in suggestions to just turn it down a little, but get no replies from their website. My biggest concern is that many parents take their young children inside and if it is painful for me, I can only imagine what it is doing to their hearing.
Loud does not equal better. The music is great, but there are times where the bass and drums are so loud that I cannot even hear the words. Church shouldn't be like this. It should be a place where everyone feels welcome and can take a moment to praise and worship the Lord. I am currently looking for another church because of this. I drive 45 minutes each way to attend here because I love the message. But the message only lasts about 20 minutes and the music portion is almost equal to that. I want to be able to enjoy that portion too.
If anyone has any suggestions of great churches that will not leave my ears ringing I would certainly...
Read moreGay individuals (who act on their attractions) are not allowed to become members or serve. When one becomes a member, you must agree to their statement of faith. On that list of what this church believes in, it says they believe marriage is for man and women only, same goes for intimacy. Therefore, if you are gay and do not agree with that belief, you cannot become a member or serve.
I gave 3 stars because I cannot become a member and serve as a result of the above. It saddens me that I am not allowed to serve for the glory of God with this church. However, I understand they are entitled to have that belief which is why I didn't give one star review.
You are, however, allowed to attend church services and participate in small groups. They have a wide variety of small group options to choose from. I value small groups as they help me grow in my relationship with Christ as I do fellowship with other Christians. The church services are wonderful and the sermons are deep, causing you to reflect and apply the message to your life.
Therefore, I will not let not being allowed to become a member or serve stop me from joining small groups with this church and attending church services. However, due to my mom having stage 4 cancer, I can't appear in person as much as I would like. But I look forward to the times I will...
