I've been here four times since it opened. The price are noticeably cheaper. Where I spend $150-200 on 4 bags of our usual items, I've spent $120-145 at WinCo. The staff have been very friendly, though many are from different stores across the country to help this one get up and running. (As one cashier said, "This isn't my dream job, but I love working here." )
The inventory and prices can change. Some items can go from being less expensive to dirt cheap. Some of my preferred brands aren't there, like Muir Glen tomato sauce and Stein's syrup. The egg selection has been very limited. It's basically just their store brand with sell by dates of just a week later. Their regular price for Starbucks coffee is $8.48 a bag, which is cheaper than Albertsons or Kroger's at $9+. But Kroger's and Albertsons will often have sales for $6+. So not everything is a great deal if you're usually a good shopper for sales.
Their store brand items can vary in quality. Their chips are okay, especially at $1.10 a bag, but their bulk cheese puffs have a weird taste that no one at my house liked. Their vegetables are better than I expected. Same for their meat. Their fish selection is okay, not great. It's minimal really. If you prefer organic foods, you won't have much selection. But we have two Sprouts nearby for those shoppers.
The store can be crowded, though I've never he had to wait in a line like I have at Super Walmart. In fact, in 2 of my 4 visits, I've immediately checked out with no wait. You have to bag your own groceries, but Kroger's and Albertsons often poorly pack my bags. So I'm happy to bag my groceries.. And you can't use credit cards.
Definitely check out the items as you enter the store. Those are often heavily discounted items.
WinCo reminds me of Super1 but better prices, better selection, and a nicer store. I dislike Walmart for their lousy layout, selections, and meats. I want good prices, but I don't want to shop in something that feels like a warehouse. Super1 would sometimes have spills or messes when I shopped there.
I will still occasionally go to Kroger's or the very close Albertsons. If I really want good fish, I'll go elsewhere. But I'll probably shop at WinCo for...
Read moreFound this store about 2 years ago and haven't bought groceries anywhere else since. Previous review was 5 stars. The prices are good, people are friendly, store is always clean and well stocked. Had my first bad experience today. Guess I was due. Extremely rude cashier and some sort of manager. I tried to look at his name tag on the way out and he turned his back so I couldn't see it. Cashier finished scanning my groceries except for the beer, which she set to the side and called manager guy over. I asked what was going on and she gave me a total I stead of an answer. Manager guy comes over, seems very annoyed that he had to deal with it, puts beer on the empty register behind him, says she can't sell that to you and walks off. No explanation, nothing. I looked at the cashier and she repeated the total. It finally dawned on me that she was a minor and couldn't ring it up. I asked if that was the case and she said yeah, I guess we should put up a sign or something and rolled her eyes. I asked what to do about the beer and she motioned to another register with no cashier and mumbled something. While I was bagging up a lady walked up to the empty register so I grabbed the beer and took it over real quick. She's always nice so I asked and she pointed out the small, laminated "sign" on the register light that said no alcohol in this line. It was curled up a little and the glare on it made it hard to read.
Hey, Y'all, in my inside voice. I rarely give out 5 stars, not because I'm a Bee or hard to please, etc. ...It is because most places have a lot of room left for improvements. Your know! I'm straightforward but with much love..... I'm not gonna talk much about parking. It can be the best in the world. It's how people drive and the things they do. 🤔🙄🫣🤪🤐 Let's begin: So, this isn't my first time here, but a place as such I wanted to see if my experience would be as the first time? It has nothing changed. This place is Huuuuuge and SUPER Clean. I don't know about the men's room but the ladies' room was clean, clean. I have not seen something like this in a loooong time! I went on a Thursday around noon. Ohhhhh, just the way I love it. Not crowded. Everyone is nice and helpful. I saw a lady in the back in the seafood section making crab cakes? She was portioning it into a mold for the shape. When I tell you, I could literally see the love she put into it. I'm old school, I know what it looks like. Heeey, Mam! You know who you are! Prices are, for the most part, really good. Just like other stores, some cost more, some cost less. This has become my food store for sure. I didn't take many pictures bec there are tons of them but just wanted to show how organized, clean and good their food look. When checking out, you put your items on the conveyor, and the cleark will scan your items that WM doesn't do anymore. Bags are provided plastic or paper, but you have to bag your own grocery. There are 2 sides of the conveyor after the cleark is finished with yours. The person behind you get their item sent to the other side. I paid with my Visa/Debit card. Also, this...
