⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️🍣🍣🍣🍣🍣 Phenomenal first omakase experience! Each bite had us with stars in our eyes, nodding our heads vigorously, and smiling at each other. The staff is super friendly and our chef did such an awesome job. Our chef asked if we had any food allergies, which we appreciated because I am dairy-free. So they are very accommodating here.
We were not sure what to expect, but we had the Miyabi omakase at $75 per person. The Nori omakase is market price and the Uni Craze omakase is priced at $130 per person. There also was one other off-menu 16 course omakase for $160 per person.
My husband and I started out with drinks. I got the Prairie Summer drink which was super refreshing, and great for those who like something sweet and fruity. My husband got the Old Fashioned and he said it was really good, too.
Next, we started the 13 courses of our Miyabi omakase, along with the uni bowl as an additional appetizer. Our chef recommended that we mix the uni bowl, which definitely elevated the dish!
He then started out with an oyster shot, followed by a wide variety of fresh nigiri sushi. He noticed that we were not eating the nigiri in one bite, and told us that it tastes better when it’s all in one shot.
It was hard for us to choose a favorite because everything tasted divine. However, if we had to choose one, it would be the salmon nigiri with foie gras. You’ll have to try for yourself because it left us speechless. It had a depth of flavor with a nice crunch, and creaminess from the foie gras. Our meal then ended with miso soup and ube (purple sweet potato/taro) and a dairy-free lychee ice-cream.
We made reservations for omakase and parking is not at all difficult. There are plenty of spaces surrounding the restaurant. It’s an intimate restaurant with a cozy atmosphere that is fitting for those wanting to go on a date. Overall, we highly recommend, and we will definitely...
Read moreMy family of 6 had the Omakase Tuesday special. We are all big fans of omakase and have tried many places over the years. The restaurant is small so having a reservation is a must.
FOOD: The food was good overall, with some items better than others. The presentation was definitely IG worthy, very aesthetically appealing. We loved the salmon belly and spicy tuna handroll. The sashimi was served warmer than I’m used to, so it kinda threw me off, but still delicious. The dessert was a sweet corn ice cream and def the perfect way to end the meal.
The only “issue” we had was that one of us is vegan and they do not have many options available. They graciously put together a roll and seaweed salad but nothing by else could be made. Not a deal breaker for those not needing - just a heads up in case anyone is looking for vegan friendly.
SERVICE: The service was timely and efficient, and the servers were friendly. However, there was no really passion in explaining what we were being served. The food was placed on the table and we were given the name of it and the fish - it just didn’t feel like they really knew how to explain the way it was prepared or what made it special. When trusting a restaurant with Omakase, part of the joy is in learning about the food choice the chefs have made for you. And in this place (perhaps because it was very busy) they just didn’t take the time to make you as excited about it.
ATMOSPHERE: it is a small and cozy space, and a pleasant surprise when you walk in. It feels like you’re in an authentically Japanese place. It was loud and the energy was good.
I think I’d like to try this place one more time, NOT on a Tuesday. I’d like to see if the service and food would be different and will update this...
Read moreI must start by acknowledging a mistake I made when booking my reservation at Yujo. Upon realizing my mistake, I reached out to the restaurant and spoke with Tony, who graciously accommodated me by rescheduling my reservation for another day. This level of flexibility and understanding set a positive tone for my first experience here.
Upon arrival, we were warmly greeted and given the option to sit at the bar or at a table. Opting for a table, we were ushered into a quaint and tranquil ambiance. Our server, who was both friendly and accommodating, promptly took our drink orders before introducing us to the omakase experience.
Our first round of drinks, the Up All Night and Old Fashioned, arrived shortly thereafter. While the Up All Night was really good, we found the Old Fashioned to be slightly watered down. However, this minor setback was quickly overshadowed by the main event – the 13-course omakase.
Throughout the meal, the servers demonstrated impeccable service, seamlessly transitioning between courses and ensuring each dish was served promptly upon completion of the previous one. Each course was a delightful journey of fresh and delicious flavors. Notably, there were several items I had never tried before, enhancing the experience.
In summary, our dining experience at Yujo Nori was nothing short of exceptional. I wish them...
