Great fishing location on its day. Water quality is sporadic but when it's good it's good. Here's the rundown: Fish species to catch include channel catfish, largemouth bass, white crappie, green Sunfish, bluegill, pumpkinseed, shellcrackers, brown bullheads, and common carp. Occasionally one will pull up a hefty bowfin but they seem to be pretty rare now, they might still be present in the creek and the spillway. Targeting fish is easiest in the spillway where cats can be caught with cut bait such as chicken, hot dogs or Shad. Big bass are typically caught on cranks and spinners though there is occasionally too water action. Crappie and BIG green Sunfish are caught with beetle spins and hugs all the time. If you need bait the lake is filled with shad, I've had hauls of 30+ fish in one throw of the net, there are shiners and crawfish so Bass have plenty of food and 5+ lbers aren't rare. The lake is just a consistently good water quality away from being a top fishery in the triangle, however it is in a private neighborhood and unless you live here or can bike/walk here there is no actual public parking.

Thanks to the reviewer who left details about where to park- we will try this again but this weekend we drove around a bunch of houses for 20 minutes trying to find a way to get onto this lake and we failed. There was a gap but couldn’t tell if it was someone’s driveway. We didn’t feel right to park outside peoples houses. Maybe Google Maps lead to the wrong side of the lake but when I see ā€˜park’ I expect those amenities, maybe some signposts so we feel welcome and not like an intruder. Will update if it turns out we were dummies and couldn’t find an obvious entrance. That’s...

I always thought this spot was great for fishing, but lately I've been proven wrong. Every time I come here, I see other anglers reeling in fish left and right. But me? I only get the tiny ones that barely fit in my palm. Where are the big ones hiding? Am I doing something wrong? Maybe I need to change my bait, or my technique, or my attitude. Maybe I'm just not cut out...
