I had to go to Chapel Hill for a doctor's appointment and my daughter lives in Raleigh for a few more months before she moves to Scotland. So I thought let's grab lunch while we can. So she picked a few places, more like types of food, and I know that down to two and then she picked Mexican. So I didn't know anything about the restaurant except the name to get the address. Address. I got there first and so I decided to look at the Yelp review to see what other people thought to pick out what I was going to eat. I was surprised that it had a three and then my daughter wanted to go there, cuz she can be very picky. Apparently she had been there many times before and really enjoyed it and they have great beer specials during the week. So I started with the salsa and chips which were great. Other reviews talk about how fresh they are, I absolutely concur. They were fresh and flavorful and a great surprise. The other reviews that I looked at mentioned the queso and the guacamole, but I was enjoying the free salsa so I didn't try those. Those. But I love enchiladas and I had just recently had some at another Wilmington Mexican restaurant, enchilada suprema so I thought well that'll be great. I'll go ahead and compare it to the one in Wilmington. But then I saw this picture of it looked kind of like Pollo ala crema, but it wasn't. It was actually Los Tres Magueyes amazing Tiras de pollo, It was spicy and it has Chipotle cream sauce. It was outstanding. It came with black beans, some rice. I asked for extra sauce because I knew it was going to be good and then the chicken and it was fantastic. I ordered the suprema enchilada to bring home for dinner or lunch tomorrow, I have no doubt it will be fantastic tomorrow. it was a great place. My daughter had the queso, and a main dish that she enjoyed too, A.C.P with Chorizo Rice, grilled chicken and chorizo, covered with cheese sauce! Both of us like to take home left over so we were happy as clams. I'm glad she introduced it to me. I think I'll be going back. It's on a main road, right in Cary, it's not pretentious. It's definitely casual and it was good food. The prices were reasonable for today's situation. The wait staff was very friendly and they had...
Read moreWe placed an order for two items at 6pm tonight. Food normally takes about 15 minutes max. By 645, about ten people had come in and out to place an order and leave with full plates of food but they kept saying 1 more minute, 1 more minute. We were sitting in the lobby with two kids at 7pm for an hour and they offered no compensation, or apologies. We eventually left because there was clearly no end in sight. When I called again afterwards to ask why that happened and try to keep trust in this local resteraunt, the manager offered no apology and hung up on me. Come here for mediocre food and hostile service. We will be going to Mi Cancun from now on.
Edited to add: The phone call with the manager that responded to this review consisted of me asking why this had occurred. He stated that someone else had taken our order. That is all fine and well but when I responded by asking then why did a whole group of other customers come in, oder food, and receive their food in the hour we were waiting, he just kept repeating someone took our order. I asked him, why wasn't our 2 item order prioritized? Why did you not offer us any compensation or apology in the hour a family with two kids was waiting in your lobby? He hung up in me with no courtesy, no apology. We left with no food (stating our food was ready is a lie) and we asked for a refund, one was not offered.
All of the other customers that were being served their large orders before our 2 items were of a certain race and my husband is of another race. Take from that...
Read moreMy husband and I for some reason decided to try 7 Mexican restaurants in 7 days because we were determined to find the best entrees and burritos (not tacos/chimichangas/enchiladas.. we'll save that for another time). He tried a chipotle chicken dish here and raved about it. Let me tell you - this man does not like talking while eating... or even sharing. However, he went on about how delicious it was and even insisted I have a bite. When the food was gone, he used the chips to scoop all of the sauce up. I was basic and went with a burrito... I got the Burrito Tejana and it was the best burrito I've ever had in my life. Of note, my husband said the same about the burrito from their Los Tres Magueyers Brier Creek location. The service was good, although we had a different server for everything (one took our order, one brought the food, one did refills, and one brought the check) so it was confusing who to ask for refills. My only negative is the seating. The booths are really weak, so whoever is sitting behind you on the connected seat determines your whole experience. When we got there, it was a tall man behind me who kept pushing back, and therefore pushing me into the table. By the time we left, another tall man entered the booth, but kept shaking the seating - needless to say I kept getting pushed and shoved around haha. Honestly though, best authentic Mexican food in RTP (compared with Jose & Sons, El Rodeo, Chuy's, Gonza's, La Santa, and MezCalito) and will...
