Michael Iji Custom Design & Tailoring Studio — Attraction in Cary

Absolutely the best tailor in the area. I needed my new work shorts tailored less than 24 hours before my first shift at work because I accidentally got a size too big for my waist. I called Michael to see if he could help me on such a short notice and he was extremely polite over the phone and told me to come in. For those of you who anything about alterations; I needed 4 inches off of my shorts(a massive altercation.) Michael had my shorts ready for me within 2 hours and the job was flawless. When I went to pick up my shorts I was short the cash to pay for the work he did. Michael told me not to worry about it and wished me good luck on the new job. I gave him my word I will be back next week to pay him and he repeatedly told me it was not that big of an issue. Though I will 100% drop off the money owed next week, I had to leave a review to share my experience with him. This isn’t just any local tailor in the area. It’s a place where you feel appreciated and someone who truly enjoys what he does and you can tell that from the very beginning. I will never go anywhere else for as long as I live in this town. After a lifelong run of fast, cheap - and ultimately unsatisfying - alterations in the mall, I finally decided to go to a Big Boy tailor. No offense to the mall folks: They serve a different audience (Prom's in 3 hours and OMG, my dress doesn't fit!!). If mall tailors were cotton candy, then Michael Iji would be 5-course meal in a French restaurant, complete with kir cocktails, black & white mosaic tile floor, and a torch singer to boot. Stepping across the threshold of the nondescript storefront into the the ambience a personalized work space, I knew immediately I had found THE ONE. Michael's space became MY space as he took the time to listen to my preferences and questions, educate me about things no one ever told me (!), and transform not just the jacket I had brought in but the literal way I carry myself while wearing it. Michael is now working on my second jacket, and I even decided to treat myself to an original custom shirt and bow tie. You will not find a better tailor....

Michael is the man! I have been in the area for 3 years and I am so happy to have found a skilled tailor for Mens suits! I have been afraid to take a suit anywhere in the area as the tailors I have seen around here either cater far more to womens clothing, or are just rushed to pump out a service. Michael made me feel right at home. He made suggestions for a proper slim fit for my suit jacket, as well as tailoring the shirt I wore with the suit.

When I came back to test the finished product, even though I was worried that the jacket was a little tight around my chest, Michael reassured me that it looked great, that I should feel confident, and that he knew people would comment on my suit! Well, no surprise, he was right! Within 10 minutes of cocktail hour, 2 people complimented me on the suit and that made my day!

I will, without a doubt, be bringing more suits to Michael for tailoring and I look forward to his work!...
