I bought a half peck of oysters with a third of them open and rotting, so I called the store owner and she said I’ll give you back some for the dead oysters and then some, soo I pick up about 15 oysters more to make up for the dead ones. I come home and check and all but 6 oysters were dead.. this is after the store owner personally picked these out for me “checking” to see if their alive.. I’m sure they do not know the difference between dead and alive, but at a rate of about 50% of the oysters being dead their going to end up selling to someone who doesn’t know good from bad and end up hurting someone. They need to take the “We sell oysters” sign down and throw away all their dead product or retrain every one who’s got to pick the oysters out on what’s dead or alive.. Read moreJudy and I are from Maryland and we're really in need of some good live blue crabs to steam up. We used to live in New Bern, NC (crab country) and could always depend upon our folks to have what we needed. Living in the Raleigh is great for our sports, cultural and dining needs. Finding good live blue crabs has presented us a problem. Not any longer! We found The Sea Depot in Cary today and our challenge is no longer! What a great seafood market. We met Jen the owner and she was most knowledgeable and friendly. Felt like we had made a friend. Anyway we purchased some "collasal" crabs and steamed them up at home. Well let me tell you how delicious they were. Couldn't eat but 3 of them because they were 8 inches point to point and packed full of meat. Our search for fresh seafood is over! The Seafood Depot is our go to spot for seafood. Check them out. You'll be glad you did....
