I just wanted to take a moment to express my heartfelt gratitude for the incredible impact Shine on Performing Arts (SOPA) has had on our lives. SOPA truly has been the missing puzzle piece in our lives. Since joining, my daughter has found a sense of purpose and belonging that we had been searching for. The community established by Mrs. Emily is truly special. My daughter has formed genuine friendships and has been able to showcase her talents in ways we never imagined. The classes offered at SOPA have enhanced my daughters talent and also built her confidence. From acting to singing, sound and lights, costume making to prop design, the opportunities at SOPA are endless. We thank God every day that we found a community where everyone is accepted and appreciated, with Christ at the center of it all. Thank you once again for all that you do at SOPA. We look forward to continued growth and success in this...

SOPA is a wonderful company and I'm so glad we found them! The teachers and directors are high-caliber and encouraging and inclusive. Miss Emily, the owner, has a way of making people feel valued and confident and is teaching the kids (and adults!) how to shine their brightest through her patience and enthusiasm! I love how they make sure everyone has a positive experience while there, and if someone wants to be in a production, they find the perfect role for him/her. The sense of community and the way the actors build each other up and root for each other is so touching and so important, especially in this day in age of insecurity, comparison, competition, and diminishing self-esteem. I have seen so much growth in my daughter and every day, her confidence builds. She's making new friends and learning so much. Acting is such a great way to help anyone learn their self-worth, and SOPA is the perfect...

I genuinely wish with all of my heart that there was an option to give more than five stars to Shine On Performing Arts! As somebody who grew up in theater, has a deep love of the arts, and someone who is the mother whose children now love the arts… I’m struggling to find the words. Last night my girls and I attended opening night for HadesTown: Teen Edition. We didn’t attend because we knew a member of the cast. I consider us fortunate that a friend had shared with us about the studio. We attended solely to scope things out and get a feel if this is somewhere our family might want to participate in the future. I don’t say this slightly. I left changed. The passion, the details, the ease, the dedication, the execution, the fact that all of it was dedicated to The Lord… remarkable. This is a VERY good thing! I can’t believe something like this exists in our...

SOPA is a place where everyone is welcome! SOPA isnt just a theatre group, its a family, a community everyone is treated with love, respect, and kindness! no one is ever judged, and everything one is so kind. Everyone is so so loving, you would expect for the little kids and teenagers to not be friends right? like at all? well, no!! everyone is friends with everyone. when I’m with SOPA, I feel safe I know that nothing will happen to be because people are there people to protect me! also, you guys, hats off to the founder of Shine On Preforming Arts.. Emily CalaSOPA!! (see what I did there?) Emily is such an amazing, and incredible person, women, mother, child, daughter, and director. She makes everyone smile with her spunkyness and her sillyness and kindness! if you’re reading this right now, and you havent joined SOPA, EVER! then I think you should give it a try.

SOPA is a place where your talents that you didn't know you had yourself are brought out. It's a place where you are called to be the best version of yourself. I recently had the pleasure of participating in their production of Newsies, and, never having taken any dance or tap classes, was at first timid about being placed in the Feature Dance Ensemble. After the shows, some people I had never met from the audience asked me how long I had been taking dance lessons. I told them I hadn't ever taken any. But because Mrs. Emily (the director) gave me a chance to try something new, and because of the quality of teaching at SOPA, I was made to seem as though I was an experienced dancer. I will without a doubt be coming back to SOPA for future shows. If you join SOPA, you will be endlessly blessed, and have a lot of fun, too!

Just saw Hadestown and I was blown away by the innovative directing and talented cast. It was on par with a professional show, with many people having seen the show on Broadway, stating that this show was more moving. The best thing is the cast were between the ages of 9-19. SOPA has classes and show opportunities for all ages (3-103) and all abilities (even for autistic, or other able kids). The overwhelming feeling is that everyone becomes part of the SOPA family, under the masterful direction of Emily Calasopa, the founder and executive artistic director.
