I was not planning to say anything because I really do hate leaving bad reviews, but this experience has stayed on my mind for both good and bad reasons.
I’ve been in Hey Sugar a couple of times recently and just went back on Friday. The young lady working at the counter, I believe her name was Kerry, gave me wonderful service. She was so helpful and attentive, answered all my questions, and made me feel very welcome when I walked in. Kerry is very charismatic and talkative.
Unfortunately, while I was there another woman walked into the store and started yelling at Kerry about taking in palettes. From what I could tell it was a candy delivery, but she raised her voice in front of everyone and then immediately walked back out without even a hello or goodbye. The palettes weren’t bothering anyone, so I thought it was very inappropriate and it completely changed the atmosphere for me. Even though Kerry she was clearly shaken up by what happened, she still handled it well. She continued to help all the customers and took care of the palettes herself. She put the customers first, which as someone who has worked in customer service, I know is the most important thing. I was glad to see that she understood that, even if the manager did not. Honestly, the way she carried herself, I would have thought she was the manager with how smoothly she ran the place. If I am not mistaken from the sound of the woman’s voice who walked in, I’ve seen this woman before on a previous visit, and I believe she is the manager. I could be wrong but if that is the case, her behavior was very disappointing.
With that said, I really do love the shop itself. The atmosphere is adorable, the music is always fun, and their candy displays and gift baskets are so cute. To be honest, the three stars I gave are for the store’s atmosphere and for Kerry’s excellent customer service. If I go back again, I’ll be hoping she is the one working at...
