The UoNA DATA521 - Big Data Lab presents a solid and practical learning experience based on key principles and technologies of Big Data. With engaging and interactive activities, students become productive and experienced with tools like Hadoop, Spark, and Splunk, which develop their expertise in data processing, analysis, and visualization. The well thought out and clear, step-by-step guidance helps to encourage student understanding in difficult concepts, and the use of authentic datasets gives students an opportunity to apply their learning to real datasets. An area of improvement is perhaps providing more resources for troubleshooting in and support (very much needed in light of the common setup issues and tool-related errors that can often hinder the process). All in all, the lab is well-designed and fosters core problem-solving skills, while preparing students with important skills for real-world Big Data experiences. Overall it was a great experience here at UoNA. Great faculty members and wonderful staff, always willing to help.

The president is very accessible to all. The enrollment team is very supportive. The DSO and team are very down-to-earth on advisory and guidance to students.

If you are lucky to be employed by the IT team, you will have a great time widening your experience.
