Edited: 10/7/25 WHAT happened here?? Staffing "issues", mentioned in a previous review, have gone from being concerning to being downright abysmal. There seem to be plenty of store employees walking around, but very little assistance when you need it. I even asked one person for help finding an item and was told that they hadn't given her an iPad yet. All she could do was point me in the direction that she "thought" I could find my item. During three separate visits to this hobby lobby the past month, I have observed unfriendly staff standing around, and check out lines (often there is only one), moving at a pace that would make a snail seem fast. Furthermore, Hobby Lobby does not take 'tap and pay.' You have to actually insert your card. I really don't like to patronize stores that require people to do this. I wouldn't come back here at all except for the really large supply of yarn that they have. As it is, I'm going to check out another store though... Fair Lakes needs a thorough revamping. I would say, too, that the store is great, but that the customer service could use some work. You can find anything you would want, for almost any type of craft! And when they do have sales, they have some great ones. However when I walked in, there were two staff members standing and talking to each other and facing the customers. Neither one of them bothered to speak to me. One did speak to the woman walking in behind me...
Read moreDon’t get me wrong. I love Hobby Lobby, but this Fair Lake/Chantilly store has some of the worst customer service I’ve ever experienced in a Hobby Lobby. So much so, I felt compelled to review as I sit in my car after leaving the store.
Not going to say every employee is at fault. The young man at returns/exchange had great customer service. He in fact was the only one helping customers up front tonight. Can’t say much for the older, yet not wiser, women workers standing nearby ignoring the line up of customers waiting to be checked out.
When one of them finally did decide to help out the young man at check out. She mumbled when she spoke, wouldnt make eye contact, refused to bag any of my items, and I had to ask her to wrap my breakable items, at least! A few more customers moved over to my lane once they realized she had opened, and she immediately complains to the other female worker loafing around nearby that she had too many customers! She still had less than the young kid who just continued to do his job and didn’t verbalize his disdain for having to work. 🙄
Will I continue to shop at this store. Yes. Like I said, I love Hobby Lobby and this store is the closest to my home. I just feel corporate should take a look at some of their employees here and give that young...
Read moreFirst, the elephant in the room. A lot of people don't like HL and won't associate with people who go there. If that's you, I respect your decision and request that you scroll on. For the people who do choose to shop there- this place ROCKS. Yes, there are Bible-themed dish towels and plenty of books on the power of w#ite people praying. Walk past those to a huge collection of vintage-looking metal garage signs, comic posters, cosplay materials, fabric by the bolt, and science toys. Yeah, they do science here. Along with all the usual art and floral supplies. The store is HUGE, clean and bright, masks required, carts sanitized, and service is friendly. Plus there's usually a home decor sale going on. And for those who decorate trees in the winter, they have "keeper" ornaments in season. Go in November for the full selection- they...
