We were going for an elegant look and The Ashley Castle met that need for us! Beautiful and classic inside and out. Disney princess vibes. We highly recommend Casey. She was on top of it. She was very responsive to emails, and we felt that she really understood our vision. She also had great ideas and was very productive during meetings. We have nothing but good things to say about her.
As for food, we went with the castle’s food, as they require it. We left our final tasting, feeling very happy with our menu choices. However, we were pretty disappointed at the wedding. It was nothing like our tasting. We wanted a surf n turf. However, the steak turned out thin and dry, there were three small shrimp instead of the large prawn we had at the tasting. The steak topping was confusing, and the veggies were bland. Presentation was broadly advertised and important to George the owner, however the final product was poorly done. It was probably due to COVID, but they seemed short staffed (the florist even volunteered to help staff dinner) that night.
For florals, we went with the Ashley Castle florist, Aimee. Our one in-person meeting was unproductive in that she kind of expected us to already know the names of flowers and greenery we wanted, and we were hoping she’d have more guidance. I ended up showing her a bunch of pictures I liked and asked for light pinks. It’s hard to approve of florals ahead of time, as she orders them from out of state. So I walked in on the wedding day to light pink, light purple, and light orange flowers -- I was not very happy with the flowers. The arrangements of the bouquets and the centerpieces were beautiful; I just did not like the colors of the flowers. The bouqs turned out nice.
One miscommunication between us was the arch. We wanted the arch outside at the ceremony to be moved in behind the sweetheart table after the ceremony for reception. We verbalized it at the meetings, and in Aimee and Casey's notes, they had "arch behind sweetheart table" but they did not think it was out at the ceremony at all...just inside the whole time...which made no sense to me. I thought it was self-explanatory that the arch is for the ceremony and gets moved after... They were not able to move it (?) and so we didnt have an arch outside. They did quickly concoct a nice floral board and placed it behind us though. Lastly, the florals on our cake were also not what we asked for. We asked for greenery at each tier with scattered flowers; they had a diagonal cascade of flowers instead. It still looked nice, but not what we asked for.
We figured it was hard to find a suitable DJ unless you went to one of their events in the past. So we went with DJ Jeff from the castle, thinking he would be most familiar and comfortable with the venue. We met him once in person 1 month before the wedding and did not hear from him again until the week of the wedding. We did send emails -- with youtube links of exact songs we wanted, we sent him our PPT for a slideshow, and we asked for uplighting on our drapery. However, there was no slideshow and no uplighting. Also, he played the wrong first dance song!! I told him three times via email: "This is the song; it is a remix and NOT the original", "Here is the youtube link", and "Please fade out after 2:12, here is the link again".....and he STILL played the original version! It threw our first dance off:( I mean, noone knew, but WE knew.. Pretty disappointed in Jeff.
We were very happy with KFrankDesigns, recommended by the castle. Seating chart and place cards were very affordable and they matched our invitations! The Franks were very accommodating throughout the process and very understanding/patient with the many changes for the...
Read moreThis venue is beautiful and the staff is top notch. Scott and I got engaged in 2021 and chose to host our wedding at Ashley Castle 2 months after he popped the question. We got married on 3/16/24 and for almost 2 years, the staff at Ashley Castle worked tirelessly to help turn our wedding vision into a reality. When we first walked into the Castle we were blown away by the beauty inside and out and even more impressed on how friendly, open, and caring the staff is. George, the owner, was always around and super approachable regarding questions like, "can my dog be involved in the wedding?". The answer, a resounding yes! Ashley Castle was so accommodating with all the elements we wanted for our special day and bent over backwards to ensure that whatever we had in mind, came to fruition. The flowers by Lori were stunning and her attention to detail like the placement of my late mother's charm allowed her to walking with me down the aisle and enabled me to see her smiling face looking up at me. She helped us brainstorm ideas for our boutonnieres that were unique as to who we are and how Scott and I met. And the food! We got so many positive comments on how delicious the food was from the appetizers, to the main dishes, and late night snacks. The catering staff was so attentive to the guests and the food was out on time. Ashley (the head of catering and the venue's namesake), ensured Scott and I had a hot meal as we were getting lots of visitors during dinner and didn't get much time to eat while it was warm. The bar tending staff was fantastic in making sure everyone received their drinks quickly. I never saw a long line at the bar and we have many friends who were enjoying beverages that night. The staff that was tasked with setting up and taking down all our decor was fantastic. They let us drop our stuff off the day before our wedding and even though they had a wedding that night and were limited on space, they made room for EVERYTHING, including 14 hockey sticks, a ton of glow sticks, baskets, glassware, etc. Last but certainly not least, I must say just how amazing Chrystie and Casey are. Chrystie and Casey are the 2 most amazing women you could ask for. Not only were they prompt with returning calls and emails (there were lots of them), they always took the time to answer all our questions, were prompt with responses, and genuinely cared about us and our wedding. Casey was our 'Day Of' coordinator and took our ceremony music and ensured the timing was perfect for our processional. While Scott and I were out taking pictures prior to the ceremony (we did a "first look"), we could Casey her listening to the song and walking to it, counting the steps and beats to get it perfect for us. Casey was instrumental in finding us a DJ when ours became unexpectedly ill a week prior to the wedding and then, spent a lot of time trying to find us a back up minister when ours had a family emergency the day before our event. Our day was absolutely perfect and we have the staff at Ashley Castle to thank for that. Every single person at this venue plays a part in making things perfect for their clients and if you let them, they will ensure you have the most beautiful wedding. When we first walked into Ashley Castle, we met the Ashley Castle staff. When we left on our wedding night, we left with an Ashley Castle family. To be honest, I can see us popping by for their Wednesday night open houses just to say hello because we are...
Read moreThe Ashley Castle was the perfect venue for us. Not only is it beautiful, but the staff is incredible.* It is also a central location near the freeway. Coordinator: We had the utmost pleasure working with Casey Cleary. Since the beginning, she was friendly, knowledgeable, and professional. Casey and I had email chains where I sent her lists of questions, and she always responded to each of them in a timely manner, welcoming any and all questions after. She set everything up before we arrived for the day! She printed labels for the buffet and extra desserts. I can't emphasize how helpful and kind she is. A few days before the wedding, we switched to texting, and she responded to me after business hours! She was not feeling well the day of, which she didn't reveal until cocktail hour, but told us she wanted to be there for us, me especially. I give her an infinity out of five. The space: We had a large wedding with 225 guests, and the ceremony and reception never felt crowded. Florist: When we were supposed to have our final floral meeting, we were reassigned to Laura. She reassured me and said we had more time to finalize our options, setting up a time to meet in person to go over everything before we had final email discussions. Laura was very kind and supportive and answered all our questions. We used our own centerpiece vases. I can be a control freak, so I was nervous about not seeing a mock bouquet, but I trusted in Laura, and they knocked it out of the park. They also draped our ceremony arch and their gazebo with fabric and faux florals we brought in. DJ: Jeff is awesome. He made a point of asking if there were any traditions or details to be aware of. He was a great DJ and was willing to play whatever music we liked and gave suggestions on the wedding timeline. He also offers sparklers, but we ended up providing our own. Catering: We had a handful of guests with dietary restrictions, and The Ashley Castle happily accommodated. What we liked is they were open to making a recipe per your request and accepted outside catering. We brought in hors d'oeuvres and extra dinner entrees from our favorite restaurants. Our guests loved all the food! Con: A minor obstacle we encountered was miscommunication between me and one of the other coordinators due to the shared email The Ashley Castle team has. There were only three times when things got a little confusing. Once in the beginning when we had a tentative hold on our wedding date and were told by another coordinator it was taken — she didn’t realize it was reserved for us. A second time when we were planning our wedding rehearsal while Casey was out of the office and we were told it had to take place Thursday instead of Friday (the day before our Saturday wedding). Lastly, Casey was out of the office again, and some wires got crossed, but it was quickly remedied after we got back in touch with Casey. *The photobooth is an extra expense, and we were happy with their service. Their photobooth was the cheapest option we found, and we liked the natural backdrop of the castle tower, but they offered many backgrounds. We used their props and brought in some of our own. My name was misspelled on their menu screen, but they corrected it when I pointed it out. They provided template options, but we chose to create one ourselves, which Becca and Cody tested to make sure it printed nicely. If you are thinking of booking The Ashley Castle, I would highly recommend you do...
