This beautiful park was the scene for many Children's Haven Reunions...Children's Haven was right on the S River....so many beautiful memories here...my children were introduced to this portion of my life at this park....many should remember Rev and Mrs. (Helen) Temple Goodwin Wheeler and Granny....she played piano...sadly Children's Haven is no longer...but it gave many of a home we really never had before we went there....when asked what kind of memorial she wanted for herself and Pop, they were Mom and Pop to us...she said all of us their children, were her and Pops memorials....they had one biological son...Arthur...he died many. any years ago. Read moreI've been going to the Jefferson Memorial Park Pool for 30 years and they haven't changed or added anything but the prices keep going up it used to be $1.50 a person and now it's $5 a person and they haven't made any changes they need to add a splash zone and maybe a slide I'm sure they could get some sponsors to help hell even the race track might help with the project!!! Now they did put up some gazebos on the grassy side now I'm at the pool rite now someone just threw up in the big pool the last 3 times we've came the kiddie pool has been closed and today they just pulled out a dead rat out of the baby pool so disgusting and the net that they have to clean the pool is ripped in half on the screen part this is just disgusting on another level...
Read morePark is a lovely location, BUT, the tennis courts are barely ok for practice and completely unsuitable for tournament play. Court surfaces are irregular and inconsistent -- nowhere close to USTA specs. Fencing is in disrepair with gaping holes. Too many clueless coaches neglecting to post reserved times for "team" practice sessions frustrate taxpaying tennis players unaware of times access to courts is blocked. Amateurish and irresponsible management by Parks Authority and Junior League coaches. We're not mind readers, people. ...
