Bought a used travel trailer, nearly lost control of it taking it home due to severe sway (even though I purchased $600 load redistributing hitch and anti-sway bar). When I got home and called the dealership to tell them what happened, one of the sales reps told me I probably "needed a bigger truck"! (He admitted he got in trouble for telling me that - which certainly says something about the dealership right off the top). One wonders why this kind of thing isn't addressed before the sale. On the road for my first camping trip, again the same thing - severe swaying all over 3 lanes of traffic - truly thought I was going to be killed. When I took the trailer to the dealer that day they assured me they would check it out. I got the impression from the service department that it was a "woman driver issue". When their own staff drove it, they experienced the same problem, and their tune changed. Weeks go by and finally I'm told that I need a bigger truck and that my truck's towing ability "had deteriorated" (by the sales rep I worked with)........WTH? My truck has no problem towing. It was insulting to have the same person who sold it to me tell me I didn't have the "right truck" to use the trailer with, and worse yet try to tell me towing capability deteriorates (yet it's a Ford truck that the seller told me would be fine for the trailer when she wanted to make a sale). Then I'm told it's a "design flaw" with the floor plan. One has to wonder why kind of ethics a dealership has when they sell a unit that they later say is incompatible with the truck of the buyer, never warns about the design flaw that could cause massive swaying issues, tries to cover up by claiming "towing deterioration" is the problem, and the worst of all...........that the buyer doesn't know how to tow a trailer. The fact I regained control BOTH times it was completely out of control, swaying all over the road almost hitting other vehicles, and almost getting hit broadside by a semi is testament to the fact I am an experienced and safe driver. They didn't do anything to make the situation right other than offering to sell it on consignment (which they didn't do). I have a feeling the issue I had was why that unit got traded in. Someone should have taken it out and towed it BEFORE accepting it in on trade - it could have revealed the "design flaw" and the terrible swaying problems which present a huge safety issue for the buyer. Now I have a $30,000 piece of equipment that is unusable, and very nearly cost me my life both times I towed it. Worse yet, I am paying for it as it sits in my driveway. Danielle was the sales person. I found her attempts to pass everything off insulting. I found her eagerness to sell me something with absolutely no regard to whether it was compatible with my truck BEFORE the sale dishonest and lacking ethics and integrity. My lawyer tells me this kind of thing happens all the time, that dealers only want your money - they don't care about anything else. Certainly sums up my experience with Awesome RV. Stay away!!!! All they want is to make a sale,...
Read moreIn summary: rude, dishonest, unaccountable, did I say dishonest. They treated me more like an enemy than a paying customer. Here are the details:
I made an appointment for oil / filter change and general inspection of my Class-C RV at Awesome RV in Chehalis, WA. On the phone I emphasized the tire inflation needs checking and suspension greased. The service advisor said the inspection includes tire inflation and they would grease suspension if there were grease fittings.
When I arrived at dealership, the same advisor changed his story a little and said they may not be able to inflate the rear âduallyâ tires if they donât have the right tool. An RV sales and service dealership that doesnât know how to inflate rear âduallyâ tires??
When vehicle service was finished I picked up the paperwork on the counter to review the bill and read the inspection report. The service advisor rudely pulled the paperwork out of my hands and informed me that it was internal paperwork and I wasnât allowed to read it. I asked him very nicely if he would explain the inspection report and charges. He looked me as though I just insulted him and he was upset with me. He said he had never been asked to do that before. He wanted me to quickly swipe my credit card and pay the bill with a 3% sur charge for using Visa.
He held the paperwork so I couldnât see it and said everything looks good. I asked if they inflated the rear dually tires and he nervously said the tire pressure monitoring system on the dash looks good. I asked but did they inflate the tires? No answer.
He didnât say if they greased the chassis, didnât say what oil they used or anything useful about the inspection. I asked for a copy of the inspection and he said they donât do that. I insisted so he photocopied a pre-printed form which didnât have my name or vehicle id on it. There was a handwritten inspection report that he didnât copy for me. And he didnât provide a copy of the visa receipt. He said itâs a paperless visa machine!
So he didnât provide a receipt or inspection report. Why would a dealership do that? So they canât be held accountable??
On the way out the door I said Iâd be going to the Ford dealership next time, which is in the same building and owned by the same owner, but a different corporation. The advisor proudly said Iâm forced to go the them as Ford Dealerships are not authorized to work on motorhomes. Only RV dealerships can work on RVs and Iâd have to go all the way to Portland to find the next RV dealer. This was not a...
Read moreFirst off, I am hard to please! I've purchased too many vehicles to be had by smooth talking salesman. I do my research and always get the same deal. Out of respect for the dealership I will not tell the public exactly what I paid, but it was way less than any other deal I've gotten.
The process was also simple and painless for the brand new Ford I ordered. I also ordered and purchased a brand new 5th wheel during the same time. That took a little more effort, but in the end, I was ot the RV for less than I was expecting to pay.
But all savings aside, they would still earn a 5 star rating from me. Their customer service is absolutely TOP NOTCH! Part of it is because they know I am a customer for life, the other part is because they know i cant be had. Either way, they stick to their word and use common sense which goes a long way with me. I can email then with an issue or concern and I will get a response and or a solution with in a few days. Most of the time they can ship me the parts I need and I can install it myself. They have without a doubt gone out of their way to ensure I am taken care of. Some of the services they have provided for me is unheard of these days.
I recommend these guys to any and everyone who is buying a vehicle or RV. But remember they are a business so do your homework if you expect a good deal.
Ryan the Ford sales manager, Jim the RV service manager, and the parts manager, THANK YOU. You guys set the bar on service and have ruined every other buying experience for me.lol I wish every store did business the way you guys do. Makes my life so much easier.
And to all the 1 star reviewers/haters, sounds like you kids need to accept a little responsibility, quit crying, and boom up! Hell, I'd sale you some beach front property in...
