Such mixed feelings about this place. They sure can cook a mean steak, but yeesh there's some major problems.
Waitress asked if we wanted an app, I asked where the apps are? They're on a little black sign on the table, weird to not be in the menu?
Someone mentioned the remodel was a "landlord special", it's funny because it's true! First impression walking in was it looks like a boxcar diner. Tons of red, white, and blue everywhere. The wood paneling on the wall behind us didn't go all the way up the wall, so there was just this exposed area you can see the inside part of the wall, lol, just not the look expected.
Kids ordered fish n chips off the kids menu, they didn't like it. I tried a piece and found out why, it tasted super fishy... Super fishy.
The crab wontons tasted like a can of tuna blended with a stick of cream cheese. The filling was just, not good. Maybe they used dungenous crab? Should have went for king crab, then maybe it would taste like crab instead of tuna.
The ribeye was cooked to perfection, so so good. The mash potatoes and corn cob was tasty too! I really liked my food, but I will say it was put on a weird wooden board. The board looked interesting, but it wasn't a flat board, so I had to kind of hold onto it the whole time so it wouldn't spin around in circles while scooping up food lol. I got a Caesar salad too, it was fresh and tasty - but so odd to order, like the waitress asked if I wanted it small, medium, or large. I've never been asked what size salad I wanted lol.
This is why I have such confused feelings about this place, like it's trying to be fancy, and seems to have fancy pricing, but everything else is just low quality or funny or both. I mean shoot, between the 4 of us we got 3 different sizes/styles of forks, did they get their cutlery supply from Goodwill or something? Lol just so funny.
That strawberry lemonade is money though, I'd have bought a gallon to take home if it was for sale.
We didn't try dessert, because it just wasn't worth continuing to try things at that point. Why spend $12 on a dessert that might be hilariously bad when we can just grab something on the way home for $5 and we know what to expect.
I feel pretty worried for this place, don't think they'll be open much longer at this rate, which is sad because lewis county really does need a place that has higher priced + higher quality food, but this ain't it. It was brave to open a place in this area that doesn't focus on "bulk low quality low price" like most restaurants in lewis county, but the menu seems so hit and miss... The owner could have opened a sports bar with wings (a hillbilly hooters) and be rolling in $, but they tried to break out of the lewis county mold. Unfortunately, a lot about this place was executed poorly.
At least they got rid of the fly problem that haunted the previous building restaurant kit carsons lol
Dang, I really want more of...
Read moreI've never been to this place before in chehalis Wa. I arrived after lunchtime on Veterans Day with my two younger kids. We noticed the parking lot almost entirely empty so we wondered if they were even open. We were promptly seated, got some sodas and a quick appetizer. Then, pretty quickly, we received our orders. My son got there burger, my daughter got a siezer salad, and I got the prime dip. It was all very good, hot and delicious. We were full_no need for desert to which I actually felt the tinge of harrases as I emediately told her NO, we dont need no desert; she continued to spout off about what they had for deserts; I briefly glimpsed that she wasn't very happy that we had had enouph and didn't wanna partake in a desert. I asked for a to_go box for the rest of my sons burger and the bill. She emediately went and got our bill, but forgot my sons to_go box; I had it covered I would not forget, I put my card in the bill holder; she came back and took it; still no to_go box. She finally returned with the signature copy for my bill and she still didn't have the to_go box and I made sure again to let her know that we needed a to_go box. She apologized and finally brought one out. I looked at my bill and they had added a mandatory charge, st first i thought it was a gratuity but then reskized that it wad a charge for using a credit card l!ter i looked it up. I was NOT paying with a credit card therefore i should not be charged an extra fee for credit card processing. It is AGAINST THE LAW TO CHARGE CUSTOMERS FOR CREDIT CARD PROCESSING WHEN YOU ARE PAYING WITH A DEBIT CARD.. LOOK IT UP!!! down at the bottom, she had circled their "tip scale." Bullcrap!* you wanna mandatory force me to pay for frodulant fees for credit card services and suggest what i give even EXTRA for a tip!!??. Then I will only add a small amount for a "tip" you dont get both!! As we left, there was only about one or two other diners there. We didn't even get anything exorbinantly expensive. and with the little I gave them for a "tip" 3 people eating, my bill still came to $85 it was Veterans day too, but not afforded any discount for...
Read moreI wanted to love it, but there were several issues. I arrived one hour prior to closing on a Thursday night.
I had the chicken parm. The sauce was too sweet for me and needed more oregano. The chicken was overcooked, so I had to saw at it with the provided steak knife to even get a bite. The dinner roll served prior to my meal was hard, cold, and chewy, and nearly impossible to cut. The "pesto" fettucini was delicious, but not Pesto at all--it had tiny flecks of green that I presume were maybe basil, but definitely didn't taste like Pesto, nor was it even slightly green like I expected with a Pesto fettucini. That being said it was still delicious! Also, the green beans were the most heavenly, perfectly cooked green beans I have ever tasted!
There were only 2 other tables/parties when I arrived but it took a loooonnggg time to get my food (over 20 minutes). I was unfortunately seated at the two tops that are close to the kitchen, and I listened to the dishwasher yelling to the other staff members my whole meal as they cleaned up. Like literally non-stop yelling back and forth. I felt like I was in a cheap diner at 2 am sitting at the bar by the grill. :(
Lastly. They started pulling out tables and sweeping and mopping AROUND me to start closing. I abhor when businesses do this. A) I don't want to slip on your wet floors. B) It makes me feel rushed and like I'm imposing.
That being said I will likely give them another shot to try their shrimp fettucini since their alfredo sauce is delicious, albeit not even remotely "Pesto flavored," or the rockfish I...
