I heard nothing but great things about Eastern back when I was in high school. I was looking for a place that had a great theatre department, and art department. It did not disappoint. The teachers were very charismatic, caring, and willing to listen to your problems to help get your work done. The school is very diverse in terms of both student body and faculty. They focus on building foundations to improve relationships between the students and the school itself. There are also a lot of dining options either on campus, or in downtown Cheney. Either way, you get your money's worth.
Being in a small college town, it's quite cozy and inviting. The sunsets are beautiful, the housing staffs are friendly, the police (both on campus and off) have a system where they interact with the students to gain a sense of safety and comradery. It allows students to know that they got your back.
If you want something more exciting, take a bus down to Spokane for a movie, some shopping, dining, etc. As a student, admission is free for a 30 minute drive to Spokane. It's more of a large town than it is a city, which also makes it all the more inviting once you enter (in my opinion).
Tips for incoming students: for long distance travel from class to class: bring a bike. It makes things a whole lot easier. If you don't have a bike, the closest bike shop is in Cheney called "Bicycle Time". The owner will set you up with a good pair of wheels in terms of both quality and quantity.
Eastern takes pride in what they do in terms of their football team, the arts, social interaction, and a whole lot more to develop. I hope you find this review helpful and...
Read moreMy past four years here at EWU have taught me a lot and have shaped the way I look at higher education. Coming from a small community I was a little frightened by the fact that there would be 10,000+ students on campus, but with the welcoming staff, professors and students I found that EWU was the right fit for me. In all four years here I have been challenged in a different way each year, and with the help and support of the faculty and professors I have seen that those challenges were just bumps in the road and that my supporters have taught me valuable life/career skills for my future.
With our exceptional football team which is what drives the school spirit and pride, you can feel the excitement when game day rolls around and the students flood into the student section of the football stadium and root for their team whether they win or lose. This intensity of school spirit can be seen around many things and not just our athletic program, but with our student government, clubs and organizations and the many other opportunities Eastern offers.
If given the chance to have another go at my college experience I would still keep on picking Eastern Washington University because of the many opportunities and experience this college...
Read moreAs a parent of two boys enrolled at Eastern Washington University, I'm thrilled with the quality of education and campus life they've experienced so far. The professors are knowledgeable and approachable, fostering an environment that encourages critical thinking and personal growth.
The campus itself is beautifully maintained, with modern facilities and resources that cater to my sons' academic needs. The library and study areas provide ample space for them to focus and collaborate with their peers. The variety of programs offered at the university allowed both of my boys to pursue their individual passions and interests.
One aspect I particularly appreciate is the sense of community on campus. My sons have made lasting friendships and feel supported by the faculty and staff. They've also had opportunities to engage in extracurricular activities, such as clubs and sports, which have enriched their college experience.
EWU's commitment to providing a well-rounded education, paired with its affordable tuition, has made it a great choice for our family. Overall, I'm confident that my sons are receiving an excellent education and I'm excited to see how their futures unfold as they continue their studies at Eastern...
