I was excited to try the Barclay Farmstead after going passed the sign for it dozens of times. It is relatively easy to find, and the entrance leaves you right into the main parking lot in front of the Barclay House. I went there in the summer, and the first part of the grounds were taken up by a huge garden with so many different kinds of flowers, and even Apple trees. There was a very small playground behind the gardens that the kids there seemed to enjoy. When I was there, the house was closed,so I did not get to take a tour of it. I was most excited to check out the trails, because I have spent my life trying out and discovering trails in all parts of NJ. The first trail I tried was the one on the edge of the park, furthest away from the house. I was disappointed by the fact that a couple feet in,the trail was so overgrown with thicket, weeds, and stickers, that you could not go in any further. I tried the rest of the trails, and found them to be plain, with some litter spread throughout. I was quite surprised with the lack of upkeep because this is a small space, and one of very few in the Cherry Hill/Camden County area of its kind. Perhaps I went there in a time of major transition; but I regret the fact that I have to say, that I would tell someone to go elsewhere if they...
Read moreI grew up in Cherry Hill and have been inside the barn twice: once as a 5th grader in 1999 or 2000, and then again about a year before I moved away (around 2014). It is a nice piece of history still standing in a town that has otherwise been completely paved over. The inside is meant to replicate what the farmhouse would have looked like in its heyday. The grounds are very nice as well, and I frequently stop by the grounds when I come back from King, North Carolina to visit the area. (Also, as a Rangers fan, this is why Barclay Goodrow was one of my favorite players, and I will miss him playing for us...) Hope this remains standing for many...
Read moreBeautiful preserved farmstead nestled unassumingly within a suburban development. Lovely grounds with shade trees, trails, and a wooden bridge over a duck weed-choked retention pond. Watch out, or Jenny Greenteeth will grab you if you stray too close to the water's edge. Still a great place to have a quiet walk with your dogs and other loved ones across the fields. There is a community garden here that is quite extensive. The Farmhouse is a brick number that is simple and elegant. Great place for a quiet respite. Just don't relax too close to...
