Update: Grand opening on the June 20th. It was very crowded when we came. We did walk-in and they were able to seat us in 15 minutes, the restaurant is a huge downsize from the previous location in Philly. No bar, 1 bathroom, small kitchen, small dining area, with tables outside, and a very noticeable change of menu. I feel like the turn out for the grand opening was pretty successful for them. I also think they would benefit if they upped sized a bit more I think this location is honestly way too small for their business. I found that the kitchen was taking too long to put out orders when all the tables were occupied, and many tables were left waiting including ours.
We ended up getting the crispy spinach chaat and I’m happy to say it’s the same as before. Would get spinach chaat again as we always do.
For appetizers we got tuisi shrimp, had good flavor but only 4 shrimps on 1 stick. Not worth $17. Chili chicken tostada $12, came with 2 tostadas, friend said it was good, butter chicken poutine $14 it was good.
For entrees, we ordered aloo gobhi mircha $20 and madras $22. Both had good flavor but portions could’ve been much better. I enjoyed the flavor madras more than the spicy gobhi ( spicy cauliflower essentially). Would get the madras again based on pure flavor.
But here’s the thing we ordered all this to start and only the crispy spinach chaat came out within 5 minutes then we proceeded to wait 25 minutes a very time and then our entrees came, completely skipping the appetizers, they corrected this mistake by giving us 2 drinks and a dessert to comp us, which was immediate as soon as she went to the manager. We appreciate the empathy that she showed when she apologized. We were really confused when the entrees came out. They proceeded to prioritize our table immediately and we got all the appetizers within 5-10 minutes. Our meal was a bit backwards, we had beginnings, entrees, then appetizers.
The blueberry lassi and mango lassi were both really good but we actually think the blueberry was better. Would get the blueberry one again for sure.
toasted coconut gulab jamun $9 was really good and would get again.
We came here to see if the restaurant is still on our top 10 list and we both agreed we would still eat there again.
Previous review: I come here at least 1-2x a year with my friend for the past 7 years. The food is always very consistently good, we're always left wondering "How did they make this?" The staff is always helpful. Bathrooms are always clean. (Parking is always hard to find.) Definitely a solid place for Indian food and would...
Read moreMy husband, my friend, and I went here for dinner a couple of Sundays ago. After we finished eating, my husband put his credit card on the table for the server to take, which she did, as witnessed by my friend. I couldn’t figure out why it was taking so long for her to bring back the card. She finally brought the check, but without the card, so we called her back to the table to ask about it. She hadn’t a clue and spent the next half hour or more searching for it. So we were delayed, in total, an additional hour (the wait between giving the card and her returning with the check) while she and some other employees searched. We think she probably gave it to another patron. Anyway, the owner/manager avoided us, didn’t come to the table to apologize or offer to comp the meal or anything. After we called the bank to cancel our card, my husband went over to the owner, who was defensive, unapologetic, and ungracious. We were not about to give them another card to lose, as we were down to our last one (we only have two), so we left, with my husband warning other patrons not to give them your credit card. I decided to take it up with the Better Business Bureau and the restaurant responded by basically calling us liars and saying we never gave them a credit card at all. The fact that this restaurant refuses to take responsibility for their actions leaves a bad taste in my mouth.
In response to your response, you persist on lying. You are liars. I just reduced your stars to the bare minimum and am removing the positives I had included in the original review. First, show me the video from that night—because I would LOVE to see it. I was completely sober and I saw my husband put the card down and my friend saw the server walk away with it. But you refuse to take responsibility. And my husband wasn’t drunk or racist and the only one who did anything illegal was you when you STOLE our credit card. Damn, you’re ridiculous.
And what are you even talking about?? You didn’t tell us to leave. You could barely get a word in because my husband was absolutely livid that you STOLE or LOST our credit card. But there was absolutely no apology on your part. No other restaurant has ever lost our card or accused us of what you’re accusing us of. Your defensive attitude is why we’re here. Good...
Read moreI'll start off by saying the food is good. Unfortunately, the people running the restaurant are not. 3 of us visited this restaurant together. We had a protracted conversation about who was going to pay, and then which card they were going to use, so the whole incident is very strong in my mind. The waitress picked up the card with her left hand and left. After 15 minutes or so, we asked when she would return the card and get a signature. She apologized, came back and left. More time, maybe 10 minutes passed. The waitress told us she couldn't find the card and apologized again, but was still looking. My friend asked for the manager. Someone else came out and said they were looking for him. He eventually came out. I think my friend was more upset about the manager hiding from us than he was about the lost card. My friend did raise his voice, but he was not abusive, he was most definitely not drunk, and he was most definitely not racist. He said to the manager, "as you lost my card, I will not be paying for this meal", and the manager said "that's fine". We left. What is wrong about this situation is that the management are lying to try and cover up their mistake. I don't understand why people can't take responsibility, apologize for making my friend cancel his credit card (never returned), and move on with life. Instead they make up stories about drunken racists? And they accuse us of stealing? Why didn't they call the police? Oh, because it never happened. It's 2024, no wait staff should have to take our credit card to another room to process. Do not let your card out of your sight. This is not where you want to be spending your time. Edit: I see that someone at the restaurant had an attack of common sense and have removed their slanderous accusations of racism, drunken and disorderly behavior, and theft from our reviews. The true test of management is not how they respond to praise, but how they respond to criticism. These managers do not handle criticism or accept responsibility at all. So just know that your experience here will be great, until it isn't, and then the management will refuse to assist and will blame you for everything wrong...
