Chesapeake Planetarium — Attraction in Chesapeake

I've loved this planetarium since my first visit on a field trip in school. The 8pm Thursday shows for the public are educational, and it's extra treat on clear nights when they have telescopes set up following the show. Shows are free but you have to call to make a reservation ahead of time. When I lived in Chesapeake, Virginia from 1988 to 1994 I used to go to the planetarium ever since the 6th grade until I had to move out of Chesapeake and into Virginia Beach. I did return a few times to see what are the updates, still the same shows, but the telescope experiences were great. I always liked that orange reflector telescope. I hope to buy one like that one day, maybe used. They have great new age music, and because of that sky theater, I got hooked on new age...

The Planetarium is fantastic! They offer a Thursday night show at least once a month and also offer a fantastic holiday show in December called the "Christmas Star." Dr. Hitt and his programs are a wonderful addition to what makes Chesapeake great and a great asset to the Chesapeake Public School system.
