The park itself was nice! The shelter was great. I’m only giving it three stars however for maintenance. So the shelter we rented for our event, had the grass all grown up so we were picking weeds and grass from around the shelter and grill so it wasn’t all over our legs. There’s also no water spigot so that was a little annoying that we had to either use our drinking water or walk down to the water where it’s all muddy and some older folks can’t really do that. The worst thing of all was the bathroom. It was so disgusting. There was no toilet paper in either, it looked like it hadn’t been cleaned in months. Dead bugs and dirt and debris all over the sink, floors and toilets. The toilets were disgusting. 1 was so backed up with stuff in it, and bugs were swimming around in the toilet. There was also no soap and a used tampon on the bathroom floor as they had no trash cans in the stalls. I’m sorry but if you’re charging me to rent the shelter, you should at least have a properly functioning bathroom, mowed event area, if nothing else. I’m not sure I would have another event here. I would probably stop by to fish a little and let the kids play, but I wouldn’t pay...

This park was not up to par at all I wont be returning. The picnic tables had dead bugs and feces on them, the slides as well he couldn't even go down the slide cause of the dead bug carcasses. Also, I brought food for me and my son to eat, and the squirrels liked hawked us, and when i took him to go play the ate thru one of my food boxes, knocked our drinks on the ground, and steadily stared at us getting real close, and there were 2 bugging us, but several around. This park used to be nice and kept up, but it doesn't look taking care of at all in a long time it looks like. Nasty, and dirty not for children, i gave a one cause he did use the swings but they had looked a little dirty too. Thank you for your time, please clean this park up i use to go here when i was little all the time...

This is a neat place to see a real working locks waterway and "boat watch". Many locals come here to crab on the bulkhead near the locks. This park offers a playground area for the kids. There are not many trails available to walk( there are a few). The park offers a public boat ramp with ample parking for vehicles with boat trailers. There is also a very nice canoe/kayak launch area here that is easily accessible from the parking lot. If you are looking for a nice trail system, you can visit the Great Bridge Battlefield park right across the street. They have an extensive trail system for walking and...

First of all, this place, this place is historic. It offers breathtaking sunsets, a different one every evening! This is a great great place because it has different amenities! Very peaceful, serene, lots of trees makes a healthy spot. A great place for meditation. A local spot for fishing, with a kayak and boat ramp. It also has a few pavillons for group picnics. If you love nearby, you should visit at least once. 🙂

Great little 2 lane boat launch. The kayak launch is also nice. Playground, picnic area. One porta potty. Clean and safe feeling. The locks are fun to see. Only issue I had was on the water. Be careful of the larger vessels who may not be concerned with their wake. 2 boats came through making a wake twice the height of my 15ft jon boat. I was close to taking on water on the 3rd wave of the wake.
