WARNING WARNING WARNING Stay as far away from this and all LA Fitness clubs as possible Here is a synopsis of my experience Moved to Pershing and Archer area of Chicago on a job assignment in February of 16, and joined The first of March I was transferred to Kankakee Il where there are no clubs, so I called to cancel Membership, and was told it was canceled. In May they are calling me everyday, including 8:30 am on a sunday morning, demanding money. They call on 5 successive days from 5 different states so you cant tell who they are. I drive 55 miles to the closest club on June 3rd to cancel You have to go in in person between 9 and 5 Monday thru Friday, or there is some bull crap about going on line and getting a form, download the form , copy the form , fill out the form, and mail the form to California . The manager cancels the account, but will not give me a letter in writing, he calls the police when I refuse to leave because I am no longer a member, and have to leave club grounds. He finally produces a form letter and after some discussion writes on it that all accounts are even and all fees waived.. Ok so the good part starts here I had canceled the Capitol 1 account they had, and opened a new Capitol 1 account.. Somehow they managed to bill the new account so I called and found out.. THEY ARE SO BAD THAT YOU CAN ACTUALLY BLOCK PAYMENT Now you have to be pretty bad to get that treatment Guess what ...they have other merchant numbers that they use to get around the payment block they simply use one number until there are enough complaints that the credit card companies will allow you to block them, then transfer to another merchant number , until that gets enough complaints.. Currently working with the IL BBB as well as the California BBB and have a call in to Il consumer fraud division .. Tell everyone you know please they are still billing me on a credit card that was never authorised. Haven't heard an explanation from Capitol 1 on...
Read moreDishonest staff, not all of the staff were dishonest and I would like to thank the two that helped me and were honest. When it was 9:40pm and I was going to leave after getting out of the sauna I've noticed my bag was missing. Being that it was late there wasn't anybody around, but I've noticed the cleaning lady walking by. When I came out I immediately noticed that my bag with wallet, keys, etc. was missing. I immediately alerted the staff about this and the first man that helped me was nothing but dismissive and combative. I've mentioned that I only saw the cleaning lady walking by and that perhaps she took it. The man was suddenly on the defensive without checking cameras or anything saying that I didn't see her take it and that I was wrong for accusing her. I asked him to check the lost and found, but he didn't find anything. I've also asked him to call the cleaning lady, which he did, but when she answered the phone she said she never taken any bags. I insisted he check the staff rooms, but being it was almost closing time he was reluctant to do so, but eventually he did after some persistence. He claims he checked and couldn't find anything. Only after I demanded they do something about it and made a scene, another two staff members stepped in and offered to check again. This time they were able to find my bag. I don't understand why it was not brought into lost and found immediately and kept in the back, which suggest that there's definitely foul play involved. The cleaning lady saying she didn't find anything reinforces this as how else would it have ended up in the staff rooms. Unfortunately I was too riled up to get the name of the rude and dismissive fellow and the cleaning lady, but to anyone coming here please be wary of your belongings. It's not the guest you have to worry about,...
Read moreWOW is all I can say. Never knew it was so difficult to start a trial period. I just left LA Fitness this morning, shortly after 9:30am and I can honestly say, its not worth the attitude. I walk in to start my trial period, and was asked to have a seat and someone will be with me. I'm looking at 7 desk and one employee talking to customers. After waiting almost 10 minutes, the gentlemen wraps up with two young ladies and calls me up. "How can I help you?" i'm asked. "I'm here to start a trial period." I tell the young man. "What trial period?" is his responce. First red flag. Should gym employees be familiar with the term, trial period? I then hand him my print out for a 3 day trial.
Next thing to come out his mouth was, "Well, I'm gonna offer you the same thing as those two ladies.". Second red flag. He carries on as if I was with them, or listening to their transaction the entire time. He then offers to use my trial coupon as a $50 voucher toward my signup today. I inform the man, that I'm currently active at another gym and just wanted to try out the facility, just to see if being more covenient was worth it.
Obviously not.
After I inform the man that i'm not signing up today, he then tells me that my coupon is expired today and I will not be able to use it more than just today(one day). At this point i'm just stuck and amazed, how quickly someones attitude changes once they realize their not going to make a sale.
At this point, I just decided to go back to my gym and not switch, even though LA Fitness is just 3 blocks...
