Came here on a Sunday, it was nearly empty when we arrived. We ordered our meals and the turn around time was about 25 minutes. I ordered the langostinos plate and was surprised when it came back with garlic bread, a salad, sweet potato fries, and a side of white rice. Usually it's only two of the above mentioned. I was very happy about that. The longostinos were delicious. The sauce they were made in was smoky, garlicky, and limey. Delicious. I ate about 35% of my plate and had to take it to go. My nephew ordered the Mexican burger and ate it all in 5 minutes. I had to do a double take 😂. My mom ordered the gordita de queso con rajas de Chile and she did not enjoy it. The rajas still had the skin and she said the gordita was cruda. Other than that it was a good meal.

Enjoyed our lunch at this friendly Mexican restaurant. Interesting, tasty authentic choices. Great homemade chips and a smoky salsa. When I asked about the assortment of drinks, Jose brought a taste of each. I chose Horchata (rice water) and my husband chose Michelada (?) (sort of a red eye with a spicy/ salty rim)...both good. Our shrimp dishes (empanadas and quesadilla) were delicious and huge. The atmosphere was also special...fresh paint, polished floor and newly renewed clean bathroom. Highchair available. Very affordable and off street parking in the back.

Tio Luis Tacos 3856 S Archer Ave Chicago IL 60632

Tio Luis Tacos has been recognized as one of the best taco joints in the country and by the Chicago Tribune as the best taco spot in Chicago. This restaurant is in my old neighborhood and opened up after I left and I never got a chance to go here. So, on my recent weekend trip into the city I had to cruise around my old neighborhood and then check this joint out. Parking is different if you aren’t from the city. I remember when you could actually park on Archer Ave. and not pay for it, but it only cost $2 to park right in front so not that bad.

The interior is really nice it doesn’t have the tacky Mexican cartoonish booths. This place has beautiful tile work and tasteful furniture in great condition. The patrons seemed to be mostly of Mexican descent and to me that signals good ethnic food. The waitress was very attentive and I had a good discussion with her about the neighborhood as her and I went to the same schools, albeit several decades apart.

So if you are at a place famous for tacos and you may only get one chance to there you had better order tacos. I’m sure their other menu items are great but it was steak tacos for me with cilantro and onions. The steak was definitely a cut above standard steak taco meat. The first thing that you notice is extremely tender and tasty. It must either be marinated or heavily seasoned because the flavor is truly dynamite. They also have what I would say is the best salsa with the chips. I just poured that salsa over my tacos and mmm mmm!

According To The Big Food Jerk.

This joint has the best steak taco and salsa I have ever had. If you are going to the city traveling north on I-55 get off at the California Ave. exit and check this joint out. I extremely...

Terrible experience! 9-31 went to enjoy my nieces day getting ears pierced and my daughter and sister exchanged words with waitress attitude and manager was rude as well I would like to know who is owner! Some other clients were so noisy and kids screaming manager didn’t say Anything. We complained to waitress why they were taken long she said she had nothing to do with that. Manager didn’t apologize said we were going to be next and we weren’t food hot there and Gordita backed up our time to eat that’s terrible. It was no good chicken was bland. Pozole was watery she said no tostadas are given with pozole. We had two cafe de la olla and it tasted nasty waitress said if we wanted a refill but didn’t say they charged for refills that’s terrible when paying she said I am not obliged to tell u. My daughter started arguing after paying she waitress said all this over coffee and started arguing with my daughter the manager didn’t help the situation. They are not professional at all and we left the waitress and manager approached my daughter still arguing. Not worth going back I miss the original owner. Every thing is do food and staff will not go back spent 100 and something will spend it...

I have been coming to tio Luis devotedly for 16 years, I have put my family and friends on to tio Luis. I remember going there seeing the owner and his family when his daughter was just a little girl and now she’s grown. Years ago this would have been a 5+ star rating but sadly their prices have increased and their portions smaller and smaller, the old friendly staffed replaced by random faces every time I go there. Service is atrocious but I come back for the delicious food. Unfortunately after today I won’t be back again and that makes me sad I have given them one too many last chances with service. Was put on hold 4x during my take out order with my question avoided the entire time I get to the restaurant to see it empty. No reason I needed to be on hold that many times, my question was how much extra for avocado ended up having to just pay whatever it was (50cents each taco) I come to find out on my receipt. And the sad disappointment that the tack dinner comes out to almost $14 with los comales sized tacos. I’m so disappointed. They get three stars based on the food still being good but everything else is garbage, can’t come back. Rather go to Del Rey...
