Smash sacramento — Attraction in Citrus Heights

I booked for my son and his two friends for his birthday. I picked the 7pm but somehow it said 6pm on the final booking. I told my husband maybe they have to be an hour early for briefing and safety. My husband and three excited kids showed up at 6:05 ish (somewhere in there) the lady at the desk told them they were late and couldn't go in. 🙄 instead of just deducting the 5 min or whatever they were late from their smash time. I called the number to speak with her and it goes to some guy who isn't even on the premise who is of no help. I asked them if they were going to refund me since they wouldn't let us in and they said they were keeping $20 for canceling. For one, I didn't cancel, they did. What horrible customer service and how awful of them to ruin a birthday. I filed a dispute with my credit card company since they were such a holes to get what I paid for back. Nowhere on their website does it state that if you are any amount of time late they won't let you in. It only says they will keep $20 if you cancel less than 48 hours. Again, I didn't cancel. I will never go there or recommend this place to anyone and will be sure to file with the better business bureau. Also, before the owner responds saying that it states to be 10-15 min early, it dies not. Or if it does, it's somewhere else on their website not where you book and out of sight. My girlfriend and I had a room set up for 7:45, but got there to find the doors locked and all the lights off. After calling around to the Sacramento location and getting ahold of the owner, we received no clear answer as to why the facility was abandoned, despite their open hours. The owner told us he would get in contact with the employee scheduled, and fifteen minutes later this random guy swings open the door, looks out at us, and goes back inside. The entire interaction was weird, the employee didn’t even say hi or try to provide an explanation or apology for wasting our time. After having a terrible day it was great to go in there and let off some steam. When we arrived the employee was already listening to hardcore music. Right before we went in the room he asked what brought us in, all I said was I had a bad day. Once we were ready to go, we asked the employee if he could just turn up his music. Getting to smash stuff to knocked loose and kublai khan was very cathartic, when the employee came to check on us he mentioned that he had a throw back queued up.
