Pam Callahan Nature Preserve — Attraction in Citrus Park

A no-frills county park with some short nature trails. Before you go, just be aware that parking is limited to maybe four vehicles, there are no restrooms, tables, or any other amenities. Perfect though if you live nearby and want to add this to your walk/run routine. The entrance is very easy to miss if you're driving!

However, Hillsborough County needs to take better care of this preserve. We found an area with several old tires and another with trash and signs of homeless people living there. On my next visit I'm going to bring some trash bags.

Beautiful scenic Florida trail but we had to turn back after about 1/8 mile because the mosquitoes were the WORST I have ever experienced and I am a Florida native for 35 years & I grew up in a wetland area!!! Not safe to hike w/ my dog, please spray this trail for mosquitoes it was an unreal experience, no exaggeration. This was so disappointing and Pam would be ashamed of the lack of care for this land she worked so hard to preserve. It was such a muddy mess and full of garbage, tires, and even a tent which appeared someone was living back there. Not well marked so we got a little lost trying to get out.
