We have been wanting to try this place for a while and some friends who go there regularly go there asked if we wanted to go to Wandee.
We've lived here since it was Amaretto's, that's a long time ago. The restaurants that have popped up in it's place have been good but never seem to make it.
Enter, Wandee Asian Fusion. Walked in around 7pm on a Friday night and the atmosphere looks completely different in this place, finally. The family owned restaurant did a beautiful job in decorating. This is a second family restaurant location, the other is in Morganton, North Carolina. Very colorful and at night kind of romantic. The music isn't too loud and there are a few tv's in case you need to catch your favorite sports game.
Our waiter who is one of the owners, was so friendly. At this point they are waiting on their liquor license and it's byob. Our friends knew this and brought some cold beer. The owner also gave us a glass of free wine.
The owner explained to us that the food is freshly picked out by the chef, and one of the specials last night was fresh crab salad, oh and some delicious wings, with just the right amount of spicy and some honey and other sauces. Very yummy. We shared different foods in a family style way. Some Korean and some Thai, definitely Asian fusion. We also had the Tom Kha kai soup, it came in this beautiful, shareable way and panang curry with tofu for my husband who is vegan.
So when the bill came we could not believe how this place could possibly stay open at such low prices. We would love for this place to stay open and told them they need to raise their prices. I mean, don't get us wrong, we love a deal but this just felt wrong. The owner being as sweet as he is said he wanted every one to be able to afford and enjoy their food.
I hope to see this place busy and people come from far all the time. We're always looking for healthy and delicious choices in our area to dine out. We will be coming back and bringing more friends and family. We need more places like this in our little area of Town and Country.
Side note: I would have taken more pics, but I left my phone home which was a delightful accident. Just snapped one with...
Read moreMy friends and I went to this restaurant for dinner on a Friday night. We did not have a reservation. The service was extremely poor. The host was quite arrogant and made us wait for over 40 minutes. He said he’ll find us a table in 2 minutes and kept saying that for the 5-6 times that we checked with him for a table. We did see two empty tables in the restaurant and the host said they were for a reservation. We didn’t see anyone come in for the reservation for the time we were waiting. It is common courtesy to seat people at the bar and have them order a drink or two until a table becomes available. We asked the host to give us their drinks menu. He instead handed us a tablet with pictures of the menu items. For 30 minutes after handling the tablet, no one came to take our drink order nor update us on the availability of a table. We also saw people leaving and the restaurant was 15 minutes away from their close time when we were still not seated. We had no hopes of being served and asked the host for updates and he had none. Finally, when we got frustrated and decided to leave, the host said your table is ready now if you want to sit. You can have a seat or leave, either is fine by us. We sensed a very racist tone in his voice. We saw several people leave and several empty tables but he refused to seat us and made us wait in frustration. It would have been fine if they were honest about their inability to seat us. We would’ve gone to a different restaurant if they said they had no availability. I would steer clear of this restaurant and not waste time as they do not care about...

The second you step foot into the cute little restaurant you are met with twinkling glass hanging from the ceiling and an incredible queue line of hanging decor.
My table of 7 was sat very quickly and we were offered water and menus immediately, and even got presented with an iPad menu of "specialties" which entailed everything you could think of cooked with the meat on hand. We all ordered something different with various spice levels and waited.
The dumplings. Literally the greatest morsel of food I've ever eaten in my entire life, fried to perfection and served with the tastiest sauce that's ever been made. The calamari was INCREDIBLE, and even came with little French fries that were soft and crispy and delicious.
By the time the food came out we were absolutely floored when each dish looked better than the last and ooh'd and aah'd over the presentation and quality of ingredients.
I asked for the spiciest food they could make, and they were hesitant to set my mouth on fire so they brought me the greatest spice rack I've ever seen in my life with some truly fiery options that I appreciated so much.
All in all, -10/10 atmosphere -10/10 service -100/10 food
I don't have a single suggestion or complaint this really is an amazing restaurant and I...
