This was my first time in Albany. I had heard about some issues with the hotel, but as my company had booked our stay, I had no choice in the matter of staying at this property. I will; however, not be coming back. I checked in, and upon getting to my room, the key did not work for the door. When I got downstairs they had made a key for a completely different room. When I asked why I couldn’t get the key for my original room they did not have an answer. And for added insult, they claimed the new room I was getting was “better”. It was not. It was the exact same room type, minus the adjoining doors. Seeing as I was up super early for work, I was already exhausted and the trip downstairs for the new keys only ate into my rest time. I got to this new room and fell asleep immediately. When I woke up, I decided I wanted to order room service. Upon speaking to the lady that answered the phone, after I tried to order food, I was told I couldn’t charge anything to the room unless I added my card. I told her that I’d go downstairs to add my card and she told me to call her back once that was done. When I got downstairs and finished adding my card to the room, the front desk lady recommended I go to the bar and order food because my company got a discount and she was not sure if we got discounts via room service. I went to the bar, ordered my food and waited the 20 minutes for it to come out. After taking my food back upstairs, I walked into my room and heard a knock. Weird, because no one knows my new room number. It was the room service lady with the food I tried to order. I was confused because she told me to call her back and I never did (I had just gotten back to the room). She had never said she’d put the order in, again, she told me to call back once the card was added to my account. She then said, she tried to call my room several times but it kept ringing and going to voicemail. By her own fault, she did not follow her own instructions. I told her I had gotten food downstairs and she seemed to have been a little annoyed and then after making me feel a bit bad, which I shouldn’t have, she then was like “oh are you sure you want it”? Ma’am you basically rolled your eyes at me and went back and forth about me not answering your calls. Okay, whatever. I didn’t even eat the second set of food. I paid for the convenience of the staff’s mistake. After eating SOME, of the food I decided to go put up my meals for work and take a shower. When I went into the bathroom, I noticed a dirty wash cloth hanging over the shower and it made me sick. I open the shower curtain to realize that two of the bottles that were supposed to be mounted on the wall were off and simply put on the shower wall mount in the corner. The rooms should have been put out of service for maintenance to glue it back on. It did not require hard manual labor. There was also little specs of hair on the tub floor and a weird yellow substance, which I assume was hardened drippings from the remaining bottle on the wall and specs of hair/dirt around it. I called the front desk and there was no answer. I had to put on my sandals to take a shower. The next morning at checkout, I go downstairs to kindly let the front desk know the issues I encountered, and I was dismissed without care by Dee, one of the agents who was at the desk that morning. I asked her if she wanted to see the pictures and she replied with “what’s your room number again”? That’s it. Didn’t want any evidence, no I am so sorry this happened, nothing. Truly the worst kind of people you want to encounter in customer service. My husband is a Gold member and the fact that she saw my profile and was still okay with the was she treated me was appalling. Not only that, when I went back to the desk to ask for a copy of my bill, I could audibly hear her scoff right in front of me. For that reason and the many others, I will not be back to this Hilton location. I will continue to use my Marriott status where appropriate to avoid this kind of below subpar service.

Where do I begin... First of all, I must say Hilton Brands have always treated us well. This is my first time ever in Albany, NY. My wife and I booked the Executive Suite on the 13th Floor. We called from the airport about 12:15 AM. The complimentary shuttle picked us up from the airport and brought us to the hotel and we went straight to our room with our digital key... about 2 AM. No big deal because our son was graduating with his MBA at 1pm and we were planning on having a wonderful brunch with family about 10-11 am. Everything was going well until we were awakened by water dripping through the ceiling on the headboard and splashing on my wife's head. I was hearing the constant ticking sound...see the photos... We both woke up and called the front desk about 7 AM. The maintenance person, Floyd, came up with his bucket and towels expecting something easily fixable. It wasn't as expected! He called from our room to see if we could get another room. We were really appreciative, but they had no more available rooms. By this time, the dripping and splashing was making the bed and pillows wetter. I get frustrated, but I don't get mad or angry. I'm quite sure this isn't totally uncommon to Hilton. I was patient... Someone checked out, and in 15 minutes I was called back by the front desk. They let me know that some one just checked out and to give them about 30 minutes for the room to be ready. We just watched TV and visited with family in our room. A little over an hour later, I called back because no one called us. Apparently, they were really swamped with a lot of people. No worries. The lady said, just come downstairs and I will receive keys to my new room on the 5th Floor. So I did. She gave me our two keys, full breakfast coupons for 2, and a coupon for one order of small bites for two people at the Hilton Albany restaurant. We leave at 3:30 AM in the morning, so breakfast is a mute point. The 5th Floor room they put us in still had some unclean issues, but we just wanted to get a good nap before leaving for graduation. There was some food of some sort on the floor... see photos... I must say, they tried, but service came up short. Really short. I really want to give a B for effort, but the bottom line is that we went from an Executive Suite, and through the process of unfortunate events (Excelsior University graduation), unforeseen weather issues, and a fully booked hotel, ended up in a subpar smaller room with less of the view we expected with coupons for something I did not want or need. There was a lack of communication between us and Hilton. They were looking for a bandaid fix. I was looking for a good night's rest from really late Thursday to really early Saturday. This is a first, that I give a One-Star rating for the room. Both were unacceptable. Really! One leaking and the other not completely cleaned and no follow-up with me or my wife. The reason I give a Three-Star rating is because they were trying. It was just draining me in the process. Please, somehow get back to under-promising and over-delivering. Following up with the customer means a lot, but just didn't happen at any level. The location was perfect. It was literally 2 blocks away from the graduation location. I really need a "do over". I have been a Hilton Honors member for years. I know you can do better. I could have a better experience by paying more and adding a rental car and staying somewhere else, but I typically trust Hilton Brands. I can't recommend this location unless they do better in their services when things don't go as planned.

I visited the Hilton Albany in mid-February 2024 with a friend. My friend was there for a conference that was going on so it was very busy in the hotel. I wasn’t there for the initial check in, so I’m unable to give my feedback. I will say I was very displeased with the cleanliness of the room, more specifically the bathroom. In the bathroom there was strands of hair on the shower walls and sink. There were also hair strands and I noticed stains on the towels. I understand it may be really difficult to get stains out of white items. However, linens that are stained shouldn’t be put in a guest room. The water pressure was terrible. Unless I’m traveling with a group, I prefer not to have a connected room. We were very unlucky to get a room that connected, we had two rooms that connected one in the front and the other in the back. I wasn’t pleased with this. However, since the conference was taking place there were no available rooms as they were sold out. The hotel does serve food in their restaurant however there is a charge. Breakfast was about $25-$27, Brunch jumps up to about $50.00, and I don’t recall the price for dinner. For breakfast there were hot options such as: eggs, bacon, sausage, French toast, an omelet station, home fries. There were also bagels, Danishes, fruits, yogurt, and cereal. Bruch was the same as breakfast however they brought out meat options and mimosas. I didn’t have dinner at the restaurant however my friend informed it was really good. Near the front desk there is also a mini Starbucks. The hotel has about 5 or 6 elevators and it takes forever for them to come. S few times I waited over 15 minutes as they were often full. It could have been due to the high traffic in the hotel because of the conference that was taking place. Although the DND sign was in the door the housekeeper would knock on the door consistently. Even after she cleaned the room same thing with the hair strands. We requested more towels again. The heating/air in the room was terrible. At one point it seemed as though we couldn’t get any air and we ended up having to open the window. There was a fridge and mini coffee station in the room. No microwave in the room. It wasn’t a good look for those who had ordered room service the day/night before place the trays outside of their rooms for them to be in the same place the next day. There is also a safe in the closet. There is a parking garage next to the hotel however it isn’t free, parking is about $20 a day. The is no connection to the parking lot you have to exist the hotel to get to the parking lot. To be honest this hotel didn’t seem like a Hilton at all. I wouldn’t recommend this hotel to anyone and I would never stay at this location again. I only gave it 2 stars because the mall was nearby.

I am not one to write bad reviews, and would go above and beyond to write a good review. This hotel experience was one of a kind. We had booked a king suite and upon arrival we were given our room keys and as we were walking to the elevator my husband was stopped and asked to come back. Suddenly, we were told there are No king suites available and we were then moved to a new room. We head on up to our new room and the room is a double queen. Clearly not what we booked but we’re reasonable. After spending less than 5 minutes in the room we noticed that it is destroyed. The vent is kicked in, AC is not working (come to find out they turn the AC off in the winter and they ask you to just open your windows to cool the room down), the tv mount is physically dislocated from the wall and hanging there, scuffs all over the wall. So after contemplating my husband goes back down stairs and asks for a new room as this one is destroyed and they give us King Suite, directly across the hall. After we were just told there were no King Suites available. On the way back up my husband was informed by a staff member that he was surprised they had put us in the “double queen room” as a crack head recently had a bad trip in there and had destroyed the room. At this point we almost decided to leave but we ended up staying since it was late and leaving would be even more of an inconvenience. The fact they lied to our faces about not having a King room that we had booked should tell you enough about their customer service. A few days into our stay I had put the do not disturb sign on the door. I was staying in the hotel that day as my husband had work meetings. I had just taken a shower and was sitting in bed and I hear a knock. I stand up and head to the door, as I’m quickly walking to answer, I hear a knock again, and before I can even get to the door and third knock and then a man physically opened the door before I can even grab the handle. He proceeds to ask me if I am checking out today and apologized for walking in on me, but Whyyyy!?. Thank God I had just gotten dressed or he would’ve walked in on me in a towel. He gave me maybe a total of 10 seconds to get to it. As a Hilton honors member this is a disgraceful hotel to their brand and I would never recommend anyone staying here. This is a glorified roach motel. Their only saving grace is an angel of a front desk girl who guarded my Sephora delivery with her life and offered to give me a free coke. I see you. Just don’t stay here and read the reviews for every Hilton you stay at for the rest of your life .

The room had black mold. See pictures. The walls were so thin you could hear the other room’s television. See one of the videos. The bathroom had that pink slime on the grout. Pictures. Shower curtain smelled of mildew. You could smell it every time you use the toilet especially since the bathroom is so small and cramped it’s almost like a bathroom stall. The surfaces didn’t seem like they were wiped down. Only one breakfast attendant/waitress so never came to refill anything or check on you. Then I found her chatting up and attending to other patrons. Front desk couldn’t recommend local things and seemed like they were new to the job. Room temperature varied. Woke up hot in the night. The hallway carpet stank like someone didn’t clean up vomit thoroughly. There’s water damage all over the ceiling tiles on the hallways. The hotel may be old, but it also feels old unlike some older hotels. Doesn’t seem like it’s properly ventilated too. You can smell the stale air. The lobby seems refreshed. The fitness area stank like body odor. If you don’t believe me, book a room and see for yourself. Or check out the other recent reviews. I was in a pinch and didn’t have much choice, otherwise I wouldn’t have stayed here, or in Albany, for that matter. The views from the room were nice. Edit: the guest services director reached out to me, and acknowledged that the hotel needs a refresh. They’re going to have major renovations beginning spring 2024. The other issues seem to come from being understaffed like housekeeping and dining services. To those who like to say “no one wants to work anymore”, it is more accurate to say no one wants to work for peanuts anymore.

I wish I had looked at reviews before booking here, but I needed a quick place. I regret not doing my research. DO NOT BOOK HERE! My family chose to stay as we were making a long drive back home from vacation. We wanted somewhere with a nice view, indoor pool, and hot tub to relax before the last leg of our drive. We thought this place checked all the boxes. The location is great and right off the highway, but that's where the quality ended. We could not enjoy the view because the windows were filthy and looked like they hadn't been touched in months. The pool was ice cold. I've never been to an indoor pool that was not heated. There is NO HOT TUB like it says. It's been filled in. I could have looked past those things (even though that's specifically why we booked here), but the room had peeling paint everywhere. There is no working exhaust in the bathroom and idk NY law, but where I'm from, that's against code. Then there was black mold in the room on the ceiling clearly from water damage. You can tell issues have been painted over instead of corrected. Myself and spouse both have asthma, and I was traveling with my infant. We all woke up congested and sick from the mold. What I thought would be relaxing stay was far from that, and we woke and left as early as possible to avoid more exposure. This is disgraceful and considering I see another review mentioning mold you should not still be renting these rooms.
