My husband and I had wanted to have an app and a drink outside but it was literally sweltering. Disappointed at first because their outdoor area is so cute but that was quickly over when we got seated upstairs. This place has so much character and feels old fashioned inside. We were seated right away but that’s unfortunately where the quick service ended. We were there around noon so it was not busy at all. We waited about 15 minutes to put our drink and food order in, waited an additional 10 minutes for our drinks and then another 10 minutes for our appetizer. We meant to be there for a quick stop in but our whole trip was well over an hour. We have the waiter our credit card and waited another 15 minutes for him to bring it up so finally we walked to the bar downstairs and got it from him. We still left 20% tip because I can’t imagine the uncertainty of being a server these days but the service left something to be desired. We both had the “Is It summer yet?” cocktail. It was fizzy and light and just what I was looking for on a hot day. A downside was the mint in our drinks looked kind of brown and not so fresh. We then shared the meat and cheese board and were very pleased with it. The smoked Gouda, yummmm. I’m still thinking about it. So overall I wanted to love it because the furniture and atmosphere made me feel so comfy but fancy at the same time. But I was left a little disappointed with the slow service and funky looking mint in our drinks. I’ll try it again on a more mild day where I can enjoy their outdoor space.

Anniversary lunch at The Olde English Pub Have been wanting to try it for a while and watching the snow falling out our window made it seem like a perfect time. It was a little different when headed south and the snow turned to a drizzle and vanished completely from the landscape. Still, there was quite the wind whipping up Broadway so it was good to be somewhere warm. The bar area was so beautifully decorated for the season (though I had to duck my head to avoid the ornaments) and the small dining area on the first floor with Christmas tree, fireplace and jolly Winston Churchill looking down on us was immediately cozy. The sausage roll we had to start was so delicious. The sausage very flavorful and the pastry was flaky perfection. I had the pot pie of the day which was chicken and again there was a fantastic flaky crust over the rich, creamy chicken and veggies. For dessert we had a slice of their carrot cake. It's not made in-house but was still excellent, the cream cheese frosting was thick and rich. Loved the food, the atmosphere and the history of the place. Will definitely be returning.

If you are staying at the Hyatt Place or looking for somewhere to eat/drink/hang before a show at the Palace, The Olde English Pub & Pantry is the place to be. Although the method for seating guests is a bit awkward, (enter the front of the restaurant, see bartender, then exit the way you came in and walk around back to meet someone who comes out a kitchen door,) the pub food was EXCELLENT! Since I couldn’t decide what to order, I had a bit of everything. The French onion soup was flavorful and cheesy with extra bread on the side. Order the hand meat pies, Sweeney Todd can’t compete! But the best food item that I had was the classic fish & chips. This was perhaps the best fish for this style dish I’ve ever had, and I’ve been to London several times. The fried batter was flaky and tasty while the white fish was soft and juicy. What a delight! Well done! Oh, and the bartender makes awesome cocktails.Tip her well!

While the food at this British pub was decent, the overall experience was far from satisfying. We opted to dine on the outdoor patio, but were constantly bombarded by buzzing bees that made it difficult to enjoy our meal. The service was also lacking. Our appetizer never made it to the table before the entree, and when we requested separate bills, we were met with a rude and dismissive response from the manager. He refused to accommodate our request, and his demeanor was entirely unprofessional, coming up to our table without introducing himself and just says "we don't do seperate checks" without even asking me why I wanted to speak to him or what my name was. It's unfortunate that such a disappointing experience overshadowed the decent food. If you're considering visiting this pub, be prepared for potential inconveniences and be sure to request indoor seating if possible.

This place has a great ambiance, great service, and good food. There's a little bar in front, a dining room in the back, possibly some tables upstairs (not too sure about that), and a big outdoor space - which was closed as it was winter. We ordered fish and chips which was ok. The fish was good and cooked well but it had way too much breading. I should have known as I saw the table next to us had ordered it and the guy was picking through all the breading. I discussed this with a neighbor a couple of days later and she said she didn't have the same experience when she ordered it there on a previous occasion. Again, the service was great and we enjoyed the fire in the fireplace. The back dining room is small so if there is a loud table - which there was - it can be loud. I look forward to going back again.
