My husband and I, along with 2 other couples attended the Tuesday evening performance of Damn Yankees at Park Playhouse in Albany's Washington Park and we all enjoyed the show very much. Yes, some of the dialogue is dated but, so what. The singing, dancing and acting was great! The weather was just perfect. In the past, we would arrive 2 hrs early and sit in the free section with our lawn chairs and sandwiches. We always loved it. This time we went online and paid $25 each to sit in pre-selected seats placed close to the stage. Because these seats were reserved, we didn't have to arrive early to get good seats. Very convenient. In this section closest to the stage there are very narrow "tables" that seat 5 or 6 people each. Eating there would be easy. They sold hot dogs, hamburgers, nachos, candy, ice cream and a variety of drinks. I would highly recommend the Park Playhouse, whether using the free seats or the reserved section. Great for families or date-night...
Read moreThe sets and costumes were wonderful in the show we attended. We opted for reserved seating, at $30a chair. I was disappointed in the seating. The chairs are those plastic backyard kind, that are very uncomfortable. The chairs were set much to close to one another, and I felt the price was to high. I understand they rely heavily on donations and these types of seating, but feel they could have done better. That being said, the actors were fantastic! As was the music. We enjoyed some very powerful voices! I bought a tee shirt in support of the troops, and will come again for the next play. However, I plan to bring my own chair, and leave a donation.I do recommend coming down to see a play in the park. It’s a fun and different way to spend...
Read moreI have been seeing Park Playhouse productions ever since I was a little girl. My family and I saw Something Rotten the other night and when I saw it was amazing, I mean it was AMAZING! Out of the 30+ shows I have seen, I can honest say Something Rotten was THE BEST production Park Playhouse has ever put on. The talent was out of this world. Every year Park Playhouse gets better and better. Do not miss an opportunity to enjoy free theater in the park. Also, if you are able too, please support this amazing organization and donate during intermission. The Arts is something we always need to...
