My experience at this university is horrible. Especially the racism that a student that is apart of a minority group will experience. Open use of racial slurs from the the students and the towns people, it's as if they have never seen people of races before and if you want to stand up for things you believe in and not conform to just being there among the population then you will be ridiculed for it. My time there as a graduate student was very short and I began to fear for my life after receiving a death threat after not standing during the National Anthem, which as an American I have the right to do. As far as academics go especially as a graduate student it was very horrible. I was studying Recreation as a graduate student and I was in class with undergraduates as well as graduate students, where is this done at? and the professors have no clue what they are talking and will misguide students. I would not advise any person of a minority group to attend this university and I will also use that same statement for those that may be thinking to attend there for their Masters in Recreation. In addition, very few student actually like to work and...
Read moreIf you want a real job don't go here. You are only a number amongst the rest of the students. Career services didn't provide any help for a job after graduation. Still don't have a real job two years after graduating. My community college I graduated from was better than this school. SUNY Cortland is nothing but a party school. The food is also pretty bad. There are laxatives in the food in case they undercook anything. Don't expect to get quality food anywhere unless you drive to Ithaca. My best time here was the first year here and it just progressively got worse. Even the professors will tell you good luck getting a job after graduation. Very discouraging, loss of interest, and motivation. I only had one good professor for a history elective I had to take that wasn't even major based. The parking is also pretty bad and a half mile from the dorms. There are only two parking lots. My community college had five times more parking than...
Read moreI commuted to this college and I did not enjoy my time here. Most other students acted entitled. Other students were not welcoming and some of the professors I had made mandatory classes not enjoyable. Lucky for me I transferred from another school and my major was transfers only. The classes I had for my major were my favorite because it was just those students and we all got along great. The parking is overly expensive especially when you have to park and ride a bus anyway. I was thankful I was only stuck there...
