Here is my story. The 1st thing I want say is I made a mistake.I booked a reservation for mother's day for 4 thru opentable which required me to prepay $176.I soon as I received the confirmation email I realized that the restaurant was an hour away from my home.I did not expect this as my search was for westchester county. No mater it was my mistake.I soon as saw this I called The bee tavern to try and cancel my reservation, within 5 minutes of booking was my 1st attempt. I initially spoke to someone who said no problem and took my info to pass on to the person who handles these matters. I got a call back from the person in charge of reservations and was informed that hey could not refund my money as this was made thru a 3rd party and the company says in their email that there are no refunds.I was offered a credit to the restaurant which if my reason for canceling was a simply my inability to come at the reservation time would have been great. However as my reason for canceling is because I LIVE A HOUR AWAY WHICH IS NOT GOING TO CHANGE a credit doesn't help me.I was told they CAN'T give me refund which is false they can they simply won't as they are not obligated too.I even said if it's a matter of waiting for them to receive payment from the 3rd party I would wait.I was even going to request a partial refund but the woman I spoke to didn't give me the opportunity. I'm sorry I screwed up but to not refund me my...
Read moreI had dinner here after work with my best friend and mother a couple days ago and was pleasantly surprised that such a treat was right in my area. We had literally gone to another "soul food" restaurant two days before this place and the food was terrible. I was so nervous I would be disappointed I even asked our server (who I'm pretty sure is the owner as well) if the mac and cheese was actually baked lol. She looked at me with a puzzled expression and said yes lol. And it sho nuff was. I had the crab cakes with the mac and cheese and the sweet potato fries and it was divine! My friend had the fried shrimp with Mac and cheese and cornbread and my mom had the same except her shrimp was sautéed instead. We kept comparing how this was what we were expecting from the other place and how pleased we were to be eating real soulfood finally. My mom was worried that the owner may have heard us and thought we were disappointed with our food which was NOT the case. For drinks, my mom and I had a mock tail which was very tasty and we all had the sparkling honey comb drink which was delicious. But the highlight for me was the peach cobbler. I haven't had it in years and I was so happy to enjoy it again. We already know we'll be back since this gem is right around the corner from us. We thoroughly...
Read moreMy party of 4 had a dinner reservation for 7:30pm. After being seated for 10 minutes the owner came out to express that there would be an hour long wait for food and that there were 6 tables before us to be served. We agreed to wait. 25 min after we ordered we were told that they didn’t have any of the things that one of my party ordered. You didn’t know that 25 min ago? Red flag. After 40 min of waiting I simply requested a piece of cornbread (which should be made already) to tide me over and was unable to get that. 45 min into our wait the waitress brings our silverware so we believed that SOME TYPE of food was coming out. Not 5 seconds after the silverware hit the table did the owner come out and give a speech about not wanting to embarrass herself and how she’s understaffed and not going to be able to complete our meal order. Essentially waisting an hour of our time. Mind you the establishment was dead with the exception of MAYBE 4 tables. Why even seat us????? She comped the drinks and invited us back and told us to ask for her as if she’s gonna remember. No physical raincheck or anything solid. It’s sad that black owned businesses are run this way. I see why we don’t support...
